Of course, since they send along a prepaid mailer for that.

So, you don't get a chance to test the replacements out?

I assume you mail them back at your own convenience, as long as you don't take too long. At least that's what I'm doing. I've only started to watch the replacement discs I got for the Tom & Jerry sets.

Thanks, and just as a last question, what information exactly do you give to them? they don't ask you for anything like the catalog number of the DVD you want to replace do they?

I called on Monday, after being on hold for a while the operator came on and asked why I was calling, I said for the replacement disc for the Looney Tunes Golden Collection 2, she said 'do you mean the Looney Tunes replacement disc', I said yes, she asked for my address, told me they would ship the replacement in a postage paid return envelope for the defective disc, she again made sure I wanted the 'Looney Tunes replacement disc', and that was it. I did not have to prove I owned the set or anything else.

Thanks a lot, that sounds simple enough.

The following cartoons all were on disk 4:

"Book Revue"; "Corny Concerto", "I Love to Singa"; "Have you Got Any Castles"; and "Hollywood Steps Out"

I have a tube TV. When I received the DVDs, I used - then - my Scott DVD player and was outputting the cartoons as PAL and noticed that I got bad pictures. At the time, I thought that the problem was poor NTSC-to-PAL conversions. I then outputted the NTSC format (my TV has NTSC and PAL AV input). Then the cartoons then looked OK. Since then I have gotten a new XORO DVD player.

Earlier this year there was talk about the Tom&Jerry replacement of the replacement DVD. Some people got bad results and others had no problems. Including the Home Theater Forum, many people were getting various results which cartoons were poor. A number of people also stated that they had no problems. At the time, people were stating that with a Tube TV you don't get the problem but you do with the flat screen (Plasma/LCD). Having majored in Physics and was a computer programmer, I decided to do an experiment (as documented in a previous thread). I then took my XORO DVD player with the LT disk 4 with the interlace problems, the Tom & Jerry replacement disk of the replacement and a PAL Laurel and Hardy which had bad NTSC-PAL conversions where some frames "shook" (just like the Disney PAL "3 Little Pigs"). All 3 disks played on my tube TV AND played with acceptable pictures on the LCD TV using a german Scart connection (like S-Video). I did not connect Progressive scan. It is my belief that a factor is the error checking of the DVD player is better on some players. I had various PM to TheGreatOz who has a flat screen and he tried the LT Interlace disk and had no problems. He also had no problems with the Tom&Jerry disk. I would suggest if someone get a bad picture using progressive scan - see what happens without the progressive scan. In various forums, some people seem to think an expensive player is better than a cheaper player. My XORO player costs circa $100 not $700 . A german friend has a friend with a 2000 Euro player (!!!) by Bang und Olufsen (sp) a danish high-end company and he has problems with some of his DVDs!
