Default Golden Collection Volume 2, Disk 4 Replacements

Guess I missed this or something, but according to this thread they're sending them out:

"For those who didn't know, Warner Bros. has quietly issued a replacement disk for Looney Tunes gold collection set 2, disk 4. The original problem with this disk was that a number of the shorts were interlaced.

If you're interested in a replacement, please contact Warner Home Video at 1-800-553-6937 so that a self-addressed stamped envelope can be sent to you for return of your current disc. Please note that the replacement disc will be sent to you in approximately 2-4 weeks."

Just called and requested my replacement. I was told it should take only 5-10 business days within the States so I'm giving it a couple of weeks to cross the border.

I just hope the receptionist took down all of my shipping details correctly because apparently the concept of a "province" and "postal code" confused her. I'm sure the person in the mailroom will hopefully figure it out...

Btw - the replacement disc is packaged within a return envelope for you to send back the previous disc.

Sounds great. I don't notice the problem on my TV, but whenever this one dies, I'll eventually have to upgrade, and I don't want any problems.

I wonder when they will issue replacement discs for the first LTGC set, in which some of the cartoons have slower-than-normal audio. I'm dying to get replacement discs for that...

For those in the know, the cartoons with warped audio are:

Disc 1:
*High-Diving Hare
*Bully for Bugs
*Rabbit of Seville

Disc 2:
*Golden Yeggs
*Rabbit Fire

Disc 3:
*The Awful Orphan

Disc 4:
*Kit for Cat
*Early to Bet

Hi Bugsmer,
You won't notice the interlace problems on a CRT (cathode ray tube) television, since it uses the intelacing scan method. If you get a Plasma or LCD television -- ones that use progressive scan -- then you will get a "combing effect" from the interlaced video.

I have a PAL/NTSC tube TV and an XORO DVD player. A number of posts have indicated that one doesn't see "the problem" on a tube TV. As mentioned in this forum some months ago, I took my XORO player and a number of "problem" DVDs (including the above and the replacement of the replacement T&J DVD) to a dealer and was able to view my disks on a LCD. I attached the player to the TV via the german scart plug (which is slightly better than super video input. I did not attach it so that I could get the progressive mode. I got what I consider to be an acceptable picture. Someone on the Home Theater Forum stated that results are different with different DVD players. I believe from what I have read, that the error checking of the player will minimize the error above which appears to be true in my case. It very well may be true that with the progressive scan mode, one will get a poor picture no match what the player used.

Wow. That's quite a ghotsly effect. It looks like a normal TV picture with the VCR tracking off, or a channel that's just a little too out of range. Thanks for the explanation, J. J.

I called Tuesday.
I was kind of surprised that I didn't have give them a code, or send the disc in first.
Sincerely hope the new version is better. I'm gonna check the new disc first before I send anything back.
