True. At least they didn't have to keep anything in synch if they had to animate it to the original soundtrack!

As for Felix, who ever dreamed up that color scheme for his antagonist?!??!!
Just be lucky I didn't throw up the other Felix toons where our protagonist happens to be in whatever color they had around! One has it painted yellow for no apparent reason!

Long Ago I had a VHS tape of 4 of these cartoons. I think they were, Steadfast Tin Soldier, Music and Charm, Bosco's Woodland Daze and I can't remember the 4th one. I agree that the music was awesome and so crazy for what they were doing - it could only happen in the early 70s.

The last cartoon was Toy Shop. It was a heavily edited/mutilated version of WE'RE IN THE MONEY.

That's absolutely true. The frist part of the cartoon also had to have some library stock cue used up to a particular point when they decided to go into the original soundtrack to boot.

But since some here are still starving for more, don't say I haven't done anything for you!

Felix the Cat in "Sunken Treasure"
Mutt & Jeff in "Oceans of Trouble"
Felix the Cat in "The Inventor"
"Music & Charm" (this one was obviously a sound cartoon from the 30's, but it's soundtrack wasn't included, replaced with more needledrop classics)
"Bosko's Woodland Daze" (one of the few that had it's original soundtrack retained instead of what happened to the others on that tape)

At least someone enjoyed them. Often I have to shake my head at the ineffectiveness of them. Again, I think that music is the only thing that saves most of 'em part from the visuals. Too often I compare this to what I expect to see from the efforts of a few kids in their garage filming something with their mom's Super-8mm camera. You feel very intimidated to what it at all, yet you can't just say "no" or give them flak about it when you have to encourage them to try harder next time. But it's just a waste of time!

Oceans of Trouble has the wackiest music yet. Music and Charm is just as bad as I remember it. It has without a doubt the worst drawings I've ever seen. And the yellow Felix is more than I can take!

I think Music & and Charm is actually is one of the Terrytoons Melladrama spoofs with Fanny Zilch and Oil Can Harry (before he was a cat).

I also was a PD tape full of redrawns including a retitled "Ups & Downs" (1931) that has the original soundtrack but with a newly (and badly) animated ending with the corny music.

Yeah, I sorta guessed it was a Terrytoons from the first time I saw it.

Heh, more and more we discover these things all the time. Some of the cels from these horrid productions still get sold on eBay daily! That impresses me someone would actually buy a Porky Pig cel that was from one of those redrawns without really knowing exactly the fact until later (unless the seller knows him/herself).
