A penny for your thoughts...
Think of any moment in animation history, ask a question about it, and the next poster will try to answer the above poster's question. Then leave a question of your own for the next poster. To begin: What if Tex Avery had won an Academy Award during his lifetime?

Cartoons never were just for children. And neither is it a genre. It is an artistic medium where the use of caricatures are used to entertain or educate, with animation bringing said caricatures to life. With such contemporary cartoons as The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, and the Adult Swim line-up, it's hard to dismiss the animated cartoon as only kids' fare. Cartoons can be for anyone. It's pure common sense. |

He'd probably would have won it for "A Wild Hare".
What if Walt Disney continued working on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons after 1928?

The coyote will have won, but since there's little to no continuity in the golden age, they will have been back to sqaure 1 in the next cartoon.
What if Walter Lantz continued making theatrical cartoons beyond 1972?

The quality of the cartons would probably have decreased and Filmation might have been producing "Woody Woodpecker".
What if Chuck Jones didn't go to MGM and he went to DePatie Freleng?

The Pat Sullivan estate would have sued by 1937. Of course, by that time, Beans would already have devolved into a boring homemaker with a full suit of clothes and a scene-stealing dog.
What if Bill Tytla had enjoyed working at Terrytoons and stuck around to wield major influence?

Terrytoons could have probably developed better quality animation.
