Default [Joke] New Family market Looney Tunes DVD Collection Coming Soon

Three weeks ago, I e-mailed Warner Bros. to see if I could get any special information about the next Golden Collection. Unfortunately, I did not get any info, but I did get this info....

Warner Bros. is planning on releasing single-disc releases of classic Looney Tuines and Merrie Melodies shorts starting in July 11, 2006. This collection will be called the "Looney Tunes Family Fun" series. It will be aimed at general audiences, rather than us, but it will include some things to excite us.

Here is a list of the first six volumes and it's contents:

Bugs Bunny
What's Up, Doc?
What's Cookin', Doc?
What's Opera, Doc?
Person to Bunny
Knighty Knight Bugs
Bedeviled Rabbit
Operation: Rabbit
Mad as a Mars Hare

Daffy Duck
Duck Amuck
Duck Dogers and the 24th and a Half Century
Porky and Daffy
A Taste of Catnip
Aqua Duck
Duck Rabbit Duck
Wise Quackers
Ducking the Devil

Porky Pig
Thumb Fun
Dog Collard
Little Orphan Airdale
Get Rich Quick, Porky
Porky's Double Trouble
Jumpin' Jupiter
The Aristo-Cat
Corn on the Cop

Road Runner & Wile E. Coyotie
Fast and Furry-ous
Beep Prepared
To Hare is Human
The Wild Chase
Chasers on the Rocks
Zoom at the Top
Hare-Breath Hurry
Sugar and Spies

Speedy Gonzales
Cat-Tails for Two
Mexican Boarders
It's Nice to Have a Mouse Around the House
Tortillia Flaps
Skyscraper Caper
Daffy Rents
Here Today, Gone Tamale
Rodent to Stadom

Foghorn Leghorn
Little Boy Boo
Crowing Pains
The High and The Flighty
Mother was a Rooster
The Leghorn Blows at Midnight
Strangled Eggs
Leghorn Swoggled
Weasle While You Work

Also on the radar later this year include a Sylvester volume (Note: It's Sylvester, not Sylvester & Tweety), a Yosimite Same volume, an Elmer Fudd volume, and a few duo volumes, like Bugs and Daffy, Bugs and Sam, and Sylvester and Speedy.

Like this news? Hate this news? Well, I've only got one thing to say:

APRIL FOOLS!!!!!

Actually, that wouldn't have really upset me, had it been real news. It would have been nice for Warner to further establish that the Golden Collections are geared towards adult collectors by also releasing the cartoons in those family-friendly packages. Plus, we would have seen an official release of a few post-64 cartoons.

Still, I had a hard time believing that Warner Home Video actually sent you this information in a reply e-mail.

I have to agree, it's really not a bad idea. Disney has been doing the same thing with their "Classic Cartoon Favorites" DVDs aimed at kids and families and the Treasures aimed at the collectors. It could also be a way to get the more LT current shorts out to the public as well ("Little Go Beep", "Father of the Bird", etc).

Damn! A couple of those cartoons I've actually been tracking down. Like Wise Quackers. Anybody know where I can get that particular cartoon? I've only seen a small clip from it in 1001 Rabbit Tales, but have been dying to see the entire cartoon.

Hey Marty, try to track down a VHS called DAFFY DUCK: TALES FROM THE DUCKSIDE (Warner Home Video). It's on that collection complete & uncut.

Yeah, this is a very cool idea. And for the record, how many of those cartoons you listed currently not on the Golden Collections?

I Count 40 on Speedyfast's list and 87 on Martin's list. Martin's count might be off a little (because of the Tweetys and Road Runners)

Just a note- I am closing this thread since it was an April Fool's joke (I don't want it to be mistaken for real news). If you want to continue this topic, please start a new thread.
