Thumbs up

Wow, this really is The COMPLETE Pink Panther... they've even included TV shorts from 'The All-New Pink Panther Show' AND the 3 reissued (retitled/redubbed) theatricals in addition to the originals!!!

This is by far the most comprehensive home video collection of DePatie-Freleng animation to ever be released, in fact, I don't even think one third of the Pink Panther cartoons have ever made it to video yet!!! This is definitely an important release, I can't wait till street day!!!

I would like to know what cartoons were released in the US Pink Panther Film box. The following 6 cartoons were in the German PP Film box.

Pink Phink
Pink, Plunk, plink
Sink Pink
Dial P for Pink
Pickled Pink
the Inspector: the great Degaulle Stone Operation

I have not heard what was in the England Box. It appears from MF TOON stated earlier the USA had more/other cartoon. If so, again the people in non-region code 1 lands are 2nd class citizens. For example not all of the Disney treasures have been released over here. For example some films ("Shining") are cut over here or fewer extras!

Here are the bonus shorts released in last year's P.P. Film Collection set:

- The Pink Phink
- Pink, Plunk, Plink
- Psychedelic Pink
- Pinkfinger
- The Ant and the Aardvark
- The Great De Gaulle Stone Operation

So we got 6 cartoons as well, only a different selection. As for the content on movies and extras, often that's related to international rights issues as different studios hold license to different properties in different regions of the world.

Not ALL shorts, though. According to Jerry Beck, some scenes had to be reanimated by Art Leonardi, to fit in with NBC's politically correctness. Then there are the titles that have Mexican themes.

The first Tijuana Toads short, for example, was retitled "A Tall in the Grass", because the first short had a series name as a title.

An example of reanimation I think is "A Pair of Greenbacks".

I saw on eBay, someone selling a cel from "Texas Toads", and it showed a scene similar to "A Pair of Greenbacks" where Toro/Fatso and Pancho/Banjo was hitting each other with blunt object. It looks like, because violence was getting outlawed by PC police, the scene was changed to have the toads hitting each other with their HATS...

Default "Pink Panther Show" coming to DVD July 26!

Bossradio93 (my good friend) was posted on another board:

Pink Panther Show, The - Think Pink! This July MGM brings 124 Panther Cartoons to DVD!
Posted by David LambertOriginally posted 4/24/2005

The Pink Panther is - paws down - the world's grooviest cartoon star. In 1964, this pink-inked feline slinked onto the opening credits of Blake Edwards' caper film by the same name and threatened to steal the entire show. Sleek, sophisticated and witty, the animation, produced by Friz Freleng and David H. DePatie, was a stylish departure from its contemporaries.and an instant hit. A subsequent short film, The Pink Phink, would go on to win an Oscar (1964: Animated Short Subject) and spawn a celebrated series of six-minute cartoons featuring the sly cat. Now, for the first time, 124 cartoons produced by Freleng and DePatie between 1964 and 1980 are collected here in a swingin' 5-disc set. With over 14 hours of "pink comedy," you can't help but lick your whiskers!

July 26th is the street date for this timelessly hip, ferociously funny box set. For $69.96 you get not onlyl five DVDs chock-full of the hilarious cartoons, but these special features as well:

  • "Behind the Feline: The Cartoon Phenomenon" Documentary
  • "Pink Patter With Art Leonardi: The Story Behind the Animation" Featurette
  • "Remembering Friz: A Tribute to Friz Freleng" Featurette
  • "Think Pink: How to Draw the Pink Panther" Featurette
  • Page to Screen: The Making of Two Cartoons
  • Animated Main Title Sequences From Five of the Feature Films

If
The Pink Panther Show - Classic Cartoon Collection 5-Pack Box Set's $69.96 price tag is too much for you, then you can ease into the pink instead with 3 single-disc releases that street the same date. The Pink Panther Show - Classic Cartoon Collection Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3 each contain 27 shorts for $14.95 SRP per sold-separately disc. The first volume contains the Oscar-winning Pink Phink short, so if you had to start with one of these, then that would be the one!

Stay tuned, and we'll have cover art for these once MGM makes it available.

^ the cover art IS available, and last I checked TVShowsOnDVD.com had it posted.

It looks really classy, the same style as The Pink Panther Film Collection which came in a black vinyl digipack fold-out, only this one is the equivalent in white. It looks great imo!

Can't wait till it streets.

Looks good. I am glad that they're using the original Pink Panther design than the one made by Shag.
