There is a cartoon way back in my memory banks that had a creature of some sort (I can't even recall what kind) and he repeatedly sang a song throughout the short with the words, "I wear my green fedora, for Dora, not Alice...". I also feel like the storyline involved babysittiing. It probably was an extremely early Looney Tunes production, but I am just guessing. Any clues out there? I would love to see it again and recharge my memory.

It is "My Green Fedora" (1935) Merrie Melodies d. by Friz Freleng. And the "creature" is the same thing that would eventually put Schlesinger and Warners in the cartoon hall of fame, namely a rabbit!:bugs2:
(And yeah he was babysitting, hence the repeated singing and dancing, till a weasel came into the picture).

I believe the same rabbit in "My Green Fedora" was also in "Country Boy" from the same year.

And the rabbit is imitating comedian Joe Penner. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Penner)

You're welcome, I'm glad to be of help:) . I was double-checking and I can't find it ever having any OFFICIAL release on tape or DVD... Not sure when it was last shown on cable. You can almost certainly get a copy of it here through trading. Orrrrrr there's always finding someone "out there" willing to sell you an (ahem) "unauthorized" copy:rolleyes: .

My Green Fedora was officially released on the Turner laserdisc The Golden Age of Looney Tunes vol. 5. It's on the 3rd disc, Side Six, under the heading "Objects D'Art".

and the same animation of him dancing was used in both as I recall.

It also shows up in 1936's "Toy Town Hall", which is a virtual cornacopia of reused animation and music (and ironically, Carl Stalling's first musical credit on the Merrie Melodies series).

A quick search on line reveals:
I'M WEARIN' MY GREEN FEDORA, words & music by Joseph Meyer, Al Sherman and Al Lewis, 1934.
As for the cartoon, it's always annoyed me. Someone turn those rabbits into stew!!

I have the same feelings for "Country Boy" even though I certainly don't want to eat the purple rabbit in the redrawn version, it could be a mutant!
