Matthew, myself and the other moderators felt that we should make a post in response to some recent threads that got out of hand. First, we think that now is a good time for everyone, especially our newer members, to get reacquainted with our GAC Forum rules (http://forums.goldenagecartoons.com/announcement.php?f=3&announcementid=11). Second, I want to thank all our forum members for making the GAC Forums such a great place to chat about the classic cartoons we all enjoy so much. For the most part, I am always impressed by the intelligent debates and worthwhile discussions our forum generates on a regular basis. People are usually respectful of others and on good behavior and I can't thank everyone here enough for that.
There are times when some threads have debates that can get pretty heated. We do regret that a couple of recent threads got out of control and that we didn't catch them sooner. The three of us were simply unavailable to step in that particular weekend. In the future, please don't hesitate to "report" a post to the moderators or send one of us a private message voicing your concerns as soon as possible. That is what we are here for.
We certainly don't want anyone to feel that they can't voice their opinions on this forum. We simply ask that everyone remain civil and show respect for other posters, even when other posters' opinions are ones you don't particularly agree with. We are all for civilized debates as long as they don't turn into flame wars, name calling or shouting matches. As Popeye once said, "What we need is brotherly love."
Longtime posters know that we try as hard as we can to keep GAC free of political or religion-themed topics, since that is NOT what this forum is about. There are plenty of other forums on the Internet where you can debate about that. This isn't one of them. We certainly don't set out to push any agenda or bias. All we ask is that you show some respect towards others and help us maintain the fun environment that keeps everyone coming back.
If you do feel the need to debate someone about an "off-topic" subject, you can use the Private Message function. Private messages are just that, "Private", and are not regulated or viewed by the moderators. However, we certainly aren't giving anyone the right to send people harassing, vulgar, or inappropriate private messages. If you feel you are being harassed in this manner, contact a moderator immediately.

In a forum with people from many different backgrounds and locations, it's a given that not everybody is going to get along. But we all have one basic interest that ties us together: classic cartoons. That is what this forum is here to discuss. There is no reason to pick on, slander, insult, or antagonize anyone here. Just because you don't like a certain cartoon/studio/artist doesn't mean that someone who enjoys them is wrong for doing so. If someone disagrees with you about something, you are welcome to politely debate. Just don't insult each other's intelligence, race, religion...or worse, their mama! Let's all have fun, and remember why we all came here in the first place. :sylvester

Yeah, I would gather that the posters here are smart enough to realize that name-calling and disagreeing with one another isn't the way to go.
I don't want this place to end up like another popular cartoon forum where 75% of the threads are unreadable because the posters are not civil to one another. Its like every week, when one member gets banned, the non-moderators find a new person to badger to the point where the new person gets banned. And the sad thing is a lot of it could have been prevented by ignoring the offender and keeping the matter private, but most of the populace there continue to rib members that they think are annoying. I don't think anybody who posts here are capable of something like that.
Sorry for going off-topic and ranting but I just want to say that if anyone ever encounters someone like that to just report something that you don't like and then one of the fine mods/admins here can settle things the way they see fit.

I have to say that this board does have some very good administrators and moderators watching over it. And some very knowledgeable posters. I have learned a few things about classic animation here.

Yeah, I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my little rants on some of the polls. I just hope that this forum will stay as a clean and nice as before without the flame attacks.

Consider my own "razor pen" henceforth stored away so deep in Vault Geezil that it'll never be found.
IMO, GAC is the most valuable Internet resource of all for sustaining a true brotherhood of classic animation fans! And long may it remain so.

I was actually suprised (and not in a good way) when two of the "recent threads" in question became as heated as they did, since they both started very benign and didn't become heated until much later.
Also, what happened to the Golden Age Funnies board? I haven't been here since last night was was surprised to see it not there.

We decided to merge the Golden Age Funnies board with the normal TTTP, especially now that the GAF site is defunct. All the past threads from that board have been moved onto this one. Feel free to discuss any classic cartoon comics topics on this forum from now on.

HERE (http://www.animationnation.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=002740) is an interesting idea for a thread from the animationnation.com forum: "An Apology Thread!"
I don't know if we need to go quite that far here, but, gosh, what a great idea.
Oh, and add my on-going appreciation to the mods here for maintaining this yar forum...

This is a great and peaceful forum, and I learnt a lot about golden age animation since I entered here. Sorry if my post in the 9/11 had hurt someone, this board should keep its patina and charm without useless political flamewars.
Go GAC!:daffy:

I'm sorry for that slate of needlessly heated posts I made earlier in the summer, and will try not to be as hostile in the future.

To put it simple... OurGangAlfalfa got hacked(either that or he lost his marbles)
:( He kept making these spam threads(all of them dirty...) Until Tom Stathes banned him. Then he came back as OurNagAlfalfa, who heckled Ken Layton. He was banned once more, but I'm still wary that this is far from over.:(
The troll I had on my blog took A LONG TIME to get rid of.

I don't know, I keep thinking this forum is becoming less of classic cartoons and more of senseless arguing (hacked or not hacked). Nobody wants this forum to become a war zone, we're here to talk about classic cartoons. I know Jon and Matthew are taking care of it, and they're doing their job, but JEEZ! That's enough.
 Whew...I gotta calm down.

A. We're NOT supposed to talk about banned members, period.
B. It was almost certainly the same person as had been under that persona all along. The mods would not have banned him if they just thought his account had been hacked.
C. SOME of his slimey posts from yesterday still remained as of last night... Thank God the picture of Hitler is gone!
D. WHO the guy REALLY is/was remains up in the air... (Buuuuut they're a-workin' on it).

Well ... I think one thing we can all agree on is that classic cartoons are something we have a great deal of passion for ... so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that we get very outspoken about from time to time ... JUST as long as we respect each other's opinions and refrain from being hateful or nasty.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was fussing at you (the "not talking about the banned" is just one of the rules). And you were just innocently answering a question from somebody else. But it'd be better to answer such questions PRIVATELY via PM (or email). ;)
