The "Tom and Jerry: Blast Off to Mars" DVD that was announced months earlier on Warner Brothers' website is now official:

It's a new production like "The Magic Ring," not a collection of shorts. The release date is January 18, 2005. Bonus features are:
- Blasting Off (Zany making of documentary on Blast Off To Mars with Writer/Director, Billy Kopp ; Producer, Tom Minton ; Art Director, Jim Schlenker ; Voice Talent, Emmy Award winning actor, Brad Garrett, from "Everybody Loves Raymond")
- "Mouse-Tronaut Jerry" (National Geographic original featurette on space travel to Mars)
- "Step By Step With Tom & Jerry" (The animation process with writer/director Bill Kopp and Producer, Tom Minton)

Oh dear! I read about this on DVD Toons and it looks pretty crappy - Tom and Jerry must join forces with a young martian girl to help save the earth apparently. Speaking of ruining classic characters and sending them to space, I heard a rumour of a "Mickey Mouse in Space" direct to video film which would possibly be CGI. Anyone know anything about this?

I'm curious to know what this is about... Could this just be an unrelated extra (in regards to the cartoon duo) or did National Geographic actually produce a children's documentary using animated segments and if so, was this done recently or in the studio days?

Funny you should mention that since i did a drawing of Minnie in space fighting the alien creature from "Mars and Beyond" some time back. I wouldn't mind seeing that, so long as it's animated in 2D.
