After Chuck Jones,Frank Tashlin and the upcoming Bob Clampett disc, who else should get the special treatment?

A Davis disc would not be a wise decision becuase it would mean very few shorts left for future volumes, due to the limited amount of cartoons he directed at WB.
A Davis/McKimson short is more probable.
I'm pretty sure next year we will have an Avery disc. I also hope a Tex Avery MGM DVD set to be released in 2008 too.

My vote definitely goes to Avery.
A disc dedicated to Avery's (very underrated) Warner cartoons would be very cool and a real treat. Among my prime choices for that particular disc would be "Porky's Duck Hunt", "Gold Diggers of '35", "Plane Dippy", "The Blow Out", "Screwball Football", "Ceiling Hero", "A Feud There Was", "Believe It or Else", "Egghead Rides Again", "Porky's Preview", "Fresh Fish", "The Isle of Pingo-Pongo" (Sure, a little PIC, but WHO THE HELL CARES?????!!!!!), and maybe "A Wild Hare" if it hasn't already been chosen for a future Bugs Bunny disc.

I'd like to see the MGM Avery set in 2008, and the LTGC tribute disc the year after that. That would give us 3 years in a row of Avery releases. He's well represented on DVD this year with both the Droopy set and his Lantz cartoons.

Tex Avery is the right choice. Considering that following the :droopy: set, Tex Avery will probably still be in people's mind and will want to see more of his toons.

I voted for Robert McKimson. Most of Freleng's best cartoons have already appeared on past collections, so a disc devoted to him might contain some of his weaker efforts. I don't know if there is enough cartoons by Avery or Davis to warrant an entire disc devoted to them.
A McKimson disc is problematic since he directed so many mediocre cartoons in the mid to late 50's. A few of the more interesting ones from that era -- such as The Hole Idea, which isn't a great cartoon but at least has an interesting premise -- sprinkled amongst his better work from the late 40's and early 50's should be enough for one disc. It would highlight his entire directing career at Warners, but wouldn't make him look too bad. His funniest cartoons are from the late 40's and some of the best examples like Gorilla My Dreams and Easter Yeggs have already been released on DVD. But there are still some really good cartoons from that era that haven't seen the light of day yet, like One Meat Braw, Hot Cross Bunny or Birth of a Notion, for example.

I'd lean toward McKimson and put my vote there - I'm pulling for them to include more :foggy:Foghorn Leghorn next time and that could become an important part of a McKimson-focused disk.

Avery is the only one I'd really like to have a whole disc devoted to. I hope when the release some more Foghorns they don't go the Speedy/Roadrunner route. I like Foghorn, but a whole disc is too much to digest - the series is full or repetition (the early ones with Henery Hawk, the later with Miss Prissy etc.), and three or four more Foghorns would fill out the picture without overloading.

I voted for Robert McKimson, especially since I read (at Wikipedia, so this could be wrong) that this works are usually dismissed by critics whenever his aretoons are discussed.

Actually, the Road Runer and Speedy discs are different. The Road Runner disc had some cartoons without Road Runner, and the Speedy disc was all Speedy cartoons.

Tex Avery all the way, for my vote.
I believe there are 4 Arthur Davis cartoons on the GCs right now, and Art directed 20-something (Including Quackodile Tears). That might not be enough to sustain an entire disc, but if they were able to give Frank Tashlin his own disc, anything is possible.
I'd also love to see, but have no realistic faith in it ever happening, a dfisc devoted to Norm McCabe.

I say that Tom Palmer should have his own disc.
You also neglected to mention Harmon and Ising. They can easily have a disc of their own.

McCabe probably did enough toons to fill one disc, but would you really want to watch that many McCabes in a row? Some of his Daffys are good, but most of his toons are bad to awful, either lame jokes, no real ending, or really slow pans over gag signs etc., plus he is responsible for some of the most offensively anti Japanese toons produced by WB. Freleng's Bugs Nips the Nips is really mild compared to McCabe's Tokio Jokio and a few others. Remember what happened when they put Nips the Nips on one of the GAOLT Laserdiscs? Most people didn't even own laserdisc players and had no idea they were putting out Looney Tunes on laserdisc (I certainly did not know), but the release of that toon sure made national news and was pulled pretty fast.

Well I wasn't surprised to see who would be leading the answers to this poll ...;)

I voted "other," because still another Clampett disc would make me happiest.
Well I wasn't surprised to see who would be leading the answers to this pollWell, Tex is an obvious frontrunner... not only did he pioneer the Warner style, but '08 will mark his 100th birthday... kind of a natural if you ask me.
There's several boxes in our future – plenty of space for other directors and themes... Davis, McKimson, Dalton/Hardaway, Harmon/Ising, WWII, C11, Snafu, 30s music-toons... not to mention spotlights on yet-unseen / under-represented characters: Sniffles, Inki, Foggy, Pepe, Taz, Bosko.
Yes, even Buddy.
Lotsa plums on that tree.

Robert McKimson.
When people ignore his cartoons, they often ignore some of the funniest Looney Tunes, period.

I love Friz, but Avery is the obvious choice. His WBs may not be as good as his MGMs, but they're important nonetheless. I'm especially looking forward to "Gold Diggers of '49" and "Miss Glory" on an upcoming collection. (I came onto this poll late and voted before looking at everyone else's choices.)

I would love to see a Davis disc, and a Foghorn Leghorn disc in vol.6.
