Last week I asked about a particular cartoon, and you were quick to answer my query. So here's another but a bit more vague this time, unfortunately.

My guess is that it's a Tex Avery cartoon, as it's of the older variety...probably from the 30's.

All I remember of it was that there was a character (the villain) that was in disguise as possibly a poor (possibly blind) old man that came into some kind of store (bakery or candy shop perhaps) and after he left, he got back to where he lived and took off his disguise and all of a sudden became this very evil looking villain. I think he was wanting the store for himself but don't hold me to that.

A mouse may have been involved as well. Can't really remember.

This one has always stood out to me because when I saw it as a very young kid, the change from the poor old man into the evil villain was pretty intense from a young kid's perspective.

I, tops, saw this cartoon twice and have never seen it again, but would love to find out the title to it and see if it's been released yet on any cartoon sets that are out.

Any help, as usual, is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm almost certain that you're talking about The Fella with the Fiddle. It's a Merrie Melodies cartoon from around 1937 about a mouse who pretends to be blind and begs in the street. When he gets home, we find out he's not blind at all and quite wealthy.

Go to youtube and look it up, I'm certain it's there: The Fella with the Fiddle

But that mouse was not evil looking.

Sounds like you've got a couple of options here, none of which fit perfectly. Aside from Freleng's "The Fella With the Fiddle", you've also got Hardaway and Dalton's "Busy Bakers" with a man coming in disguise to a bakery, while Tashlin's "The Case of the Stuttering Pig" has Lawyer Goodwill turning into a monster as part of his scheme to take Porky and his other family members' inheriitance.

But that mouse was not evil looking.Point taken. But Glad27 said he wasn't sure. He could look evil in memory, due to the fact that his actions were evil. As soon as I read the post, anyway, that cartoon stood out in my mind. Also he said there was a mouse involved. Or it could be one of J Lee's choices.

Thanks for the suggestions frootloops, but unfortunately, The Fella With The Fiddle wasn't the one. I did go to youtube to watch it though just to make sure. Thanks anyways.

I believe the evil person in disguise is actually a human...and this "Busy Bakers" is ringing a bell if for nothing else because a bakery seems familiar to me as well.

It seems like I remember the person in disguise comes into a bakery at the very beginning of the cartoon, you think he's harmless, then he leaves and goes back home and you find out he's this evil guy out to do something bad to the bakery perhaps.

Man...it's been the better part of 25 years since the last time I saw this cartoon, so I apologize for the vagueness.

Edit: Nix "Busy Bakers"....I just looked the synopsis up on the net and I remember that one. The "blind guy" was nice and actually helped out the baker in trouble. This guy in disguise that I'm thinking of is definitely evil...big time.

Just looked up The Case of the Stuttering Pig...........now THAT sounds a lot more like what I'm talking about. I don't remember Porky being in it, but that doesn't mean he wasn't. It just means I'm getting too old to remember.

Anyways...thanks for the suggestions people. It's much appreciated.
