Did anyone else notice that the Looney Tunes Show is now down to a half hour on Saturday and Sunday?

I am speechless. It's like being slapped in the face.

Jeff

As long as they keep losing money on Looney Tunes and classic characters, this will continue to happen, unfortunately. :(

Actually, it's more like being kicked in the ... you know, below the belt. :(

But take heart, for somehow, CN's day of reckoning will yet arrive.

They remove so much from CN to increase demand for Boomerang so if Boomerang dies then they won't have to withhold anymore. That's Bob Higgins' strategy anyway. :/

"Did anyone else notice that the Looney Tunes Show is now down to a half hour on Saturday and Sunday?"

:( :ysam:

And they replace it with Ed, Edd, and Eddy, and Totally Spies.

Sadly, it's true that current shows are the ratings-winners now.

I really wish I knew what kids saw in Totally Spies. When I was a kid I liked some pretty stupid shows but it didn't take me THAT long to determine between the good and the bad.

"I really wish I knew what kids saw in Totally Spies."

It's actually not that bad of a show.

(ducks tomatoes)

But it is being overplayed a lot.

Probably because of the high ratings it gets on Miguzi.

Yes, yes it does get high ratings, unfortunately. Totally Spies, Teen Titans, MEGAS XLR, Kids Next Door, and Ed Edd n Eddy are CN's 5 biggest kids series right now in terms of both ratings and general popularity. Only 2 of those 5 have any quality at all.

I had noticed this when I was flipping through my guide on DirecTV. I have been debating giving up my DirecTV and buying my favorite toons and TV shows on DVD.:bugs1:

Heck, who needs Cartoon Network when you can go out and buy these cartoon masterpieces? I think CN hates us, they won't even show "Cats Don't Dance" (it has "Pullet Suprise" on the print) or an animated movie that has a clip from a WB cartoon!

I'm not surprised. It's been heading this way for a few years. I hope a new premium channel comes along showing classic theatricals someday after Boomerang folds and CN goes to all syndicated or original programming. A channel like that could make money if it was run right.

:ysam: WWWHAT? I paid my four-bits to see the "Looney Tunes", and I'ma gonna see the "Looney Tunes"!

Half an hour. I'm actually glad I'm going to college this fall and most likely won't be able to watch "The Looney Tunes Show" anymore - I don't want to wake up one morning and find it replaced with back-to-back "Ed, Edd, and Eddy" reruns. At least I'm packing my DVD player and my Golden Collection DVD so I can still prove to my roommate what classics these were.

A quote from Bart Simpson seems to adequately capture my mood: "I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows."

Jon/Thad/Matthew,

Since you now have your own forum with which to spout, why not publish and article about this on the site? Talk about the history of CN's programming, its decline and the Boomerang upcoming fiasco (pronounced fie-ass-co)? Maybe you can get Brian to also run the article and (who knows) Jerry Beck on his Cartoon Brew...

You never know what a lil' internet press could do.

Jeff

I don't bother trying to catch Looney Tunes on CN anymore. Are they even on weekdays anymore? It's sad...and now I hear Boomerang might go off the air. Of course, I don't even have that channel.

This news doesn't bother me at all. I stopped watching this trainwreck of a cartoon channel a LONG TIME ago. I only watch "Looney Tunes" (the very little they have on it, and TMNT. But besides that, CN can take a hike!! (That's the nicest way I can put it.)

if this is true that Boomerang is going off the air, could CN be next??
Only shows that are doing good on CN are those NOt in the Cartoon cartoon Crapfest.
(eds, etc, etc)
I bet if CN droped the OVer plays of CC shows and the DUMB Pup named scooby doo, and filled in with some LT they could get ratings up, either that or let WB run the classic toon.

Has anyone seem to notice the LT show does not have a good rotation as
the bugs shows did before??

I don't know, I watched the CN version every week from May 15 up until yesterday and I never noticed any repeat airings of any shorts (although I do remember seeing "Yankee Doodle Bugs" and "Stork Naked" back in March, then again in July).

JeffJust because it's internet, don't expect it to work. I'm a fan of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and me and a bunch of other fans have been trying to keep the show from being cancelled, by emailing ABC or making petitions. It didn't work. Now we're trying to contact Warner Home Video to get Whose Line? on DVD. We started this last April. Still no response. I'm not saying it blows my faith in getting Cartoon Network's attention (we did get through to them, barely, about Speedy Gonzales), I'm just saying, the chances are ver slim. Even trying to get Nickelodeon to play their older shows like Rocko or..... eh.... I'm not sayin the name, since it's been established I can't mention the name, and yet NICK refuses to answer and do.

I think we may have a little hope, if you can email me at my address that is in my profile, or Private message me, i let you know, as i dont' want to start an spam athon here on the MB.

I think if CN knew how dissatisfied alot of the subscribers are with there station maybe they can change for the better, at least there hope, as Eds is ending this season ( this was reported by another a while back, and with CN's
saturation of the show during this summer, makes you wonder if the Ed's is finally going to move out of the CN line up for good as did sheep, time squad, and looking more like robot jones did to.

Not really.

There's going to be a lot of Ed, Edd, and Eddy episodes airing next year. And the show is NOT going to end.

Plus the reruns of this show are in the top of the ratings, so it'll be in the CN schedule for years.

BTW, Time Squad is on at 5:00 A.M. every weekday.

great, what we never asked for on CN,
well looks like i have to for sure get more classic DVD's as
hearing eds are continuing, and WHy we will never know, i think if it goes to
an all ed channel, i telling comcast to pull out my cable feed of CN, cause
it seems like evertime i put it on CN during hours of 6 am to 12 am i get eds (blech), at first the show was okay but how many times does CN need to
repeat, and think anyone was to watch this excuse for a toon, at least let the eds grow up, or kill off the Kankers. change the show let it evolve. They get more viewers if they did.

Oh well maybe someday CN will grow into a format all us Old schoolers and the newbies will like.

I watched "Ed edd and Eddy" onece, in a hotel gym while I was on the treadmill. And it was so unbearable that I stoppe mid-workout (which I never ever do) to change the channel. Why CN? Why?

OT: I used to hate Ed, Edd, and Eddy when I first watched it. However, It's one of my favorite CN shows now. Because of its characterization (Edd) and of its wonderful animation.

I haven't watched anything on CN since the LT Gold Collection came out on DVD last year. I had been watching Samurai Jack, but they just kept changing when it aired, so I gave up. Now, of course, they've gone and cancelled Jack, too. But, with Looney Tunes and other great cartoons finally coming out on DVD, I don't really feel like there's any reason to watch CN anymore. They are a pathetic excuse for a cartoon station.

The problem is that the DVD releases are only 60 cartoons a year. That's about 1 cartoon a week at this rate! :slow: :droopy:

Jerry has indicated that by 2006 the rate of collections might increase though, which is good and hopeful news. Jerry any further updates here?

Jeff
