Here's my true blue opinion on Disney's adaptation of Underdog

(note: It contains a small amount of explicit language)

I saw the trailer for the first time this past Sunday, and suddenly felt quite queasy. Seriously. Should justice prevail, this picture will tank very quickly. (Let us hope.)

My prediction is that UNDERDOG will be this year's Dudley Doo-Right Movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0160236/)except without Brendan Fraiser. (Or is he, indeed, in it?)

So what I'm saying is, "There's no need to fear..."

Actually, It will be along the lines of "The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas"

This could be almost exactly the plot for a Krypto the Superdog movie. Too bad it's from another studio.

BTW, I left a comment on your review of the Underdog movie and its trailer.

Actually, I think this movie might be worth seeing afterall.... to play a fun game and see how many things we can find wrong with it.

I kinda siad elsewhere I thought this should've been a movie about Krypto instead. It would've worked more effectively to that pooch than Underdog, if this idea had been done at Warner Bros. instead.

I'm sure this movie will die a quiet death and find it's way to Walmart's $5.99 bin by Christmas, so excuse me for not joining in the moral outrage.

I always thought Underdog was kind of lame and really juvenile anyway. I preferred Rocky & Bullwinkle.

I would too, mainly since I hardly saw much Underdog until the Nick airings in the 90's (beset I saw on local TV was the other Total TV stuff like Tennesee Tuxedo), and mostly remember Rocky/Bullwinkle from having to stay up late saturday nights for my UHF station to play the cartoon at around 11PM (often signing off afterwards I believe).

Either way, it's not worth the $6 anyway!

Geez, I think just watching that trailer is a good way to see everything wrong with that film. They're basically trying to make Underdog into some wise-cracking canine. And the dog they chose looks NOTHING like the Underdog we all know and (fortunately) remember. Ditto to Riff Raff, who's SUPPOSED to be a terrier.

UNDERDOG? THe last syllable says it all. The premier Disney theater in Los Angeles is The El Capitan, and it has this movie blocked for a one month run.
One week might be all for it I predict.

Being reminded of one person who posted over at Cartoon Brew that he also noticed Disney forgot to digitally airbrush out the dog's anatomical areas as well (like they did apparently to the 101 Dalmatians flicks., it made me felt glad someone else thought about that besides me!

Let's hope! I'll give it two weeks at most.

Well, thanks a lot! There goes the unedited DVD version in one fell swoop. ;)

Oh, like you were that interested in freeze-framing this slop!

The thing that I find soooo puzzling is this... I can find it understandable that Disney would make "George Of The Jungle" in live-action because of George being a human;) character to start with (okay he's sub-human:p ). The presence of the couple of realistic-looking CGI versions of the animal characters added to it... Though a cel-animated version of all would've still been infinitely preferable.

Same thing applies to the universally-panned "Dudley Doright" flick (although Dudley is so wedded to his cartoon huge-chin and blond locks that it was a bad decision all around). This if obviously the same dense-thinking that has led to a live-action "Underdog" feature...

But it really makes zero sense with the animals cast looking NOTHING like the original TV series limited animation characters. And even though we all recoil in horror at the idea of the inflated-doll look that CGI-animated versions of classic characters are predisposed to having, I'd still much prefer that to a live-action "Underdog"...

Someone must have seen the "Garfield" movies and taken note of "Odie" being live-action (which I found infinitely upsetting). But at least Garfield wasn't a live cat!

I thought Riff Raff was supposed to be a wolf.

And what was the name of his henchman (the guy who looks like Walter Matthau)? I keep forgetting it.
