Just being sarcastic...the real point here is:
How many threads "Hit or Miss", "Gay or Straight", "Black or White" and "Classic or Spastic" and crazy variants we had this week????
I try to respect everybody's feelings, but twenty or so in one week is really too much! And I don't think they add something to this forum's discussion when they are about Daffy and Speedy cartoons or other unmemorable shorts......and the replies are something like "Hit because it's the first cartoons I've seen after my first five" or "A masterpiece because in one frame Daffy does a funny face that reminds of my late uncle".........oh well, just my two cents.
I agree with an old post of Thad every day more:o
:shame: .........on YOU!:D

I have to agree... there has definitely been an overkill of "Hit or Miss" poll variations this week. It was kind of funny the first time, but, geez, how many do we need?

I would say it's a miss, Porky has no personality at all, and there are so many logic errors, I know it's a cartoon, but it still seems rather dumb.

Andrea, I agree completely.
(I like FISH TALES, but that's beside the point...)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Hit/Miss polls are probably most enjoyable to the people actually administrating them.

As for the cartoon at hand here, it's a miss. There are so many logic errors. For example, Porky being able to breath and not even float underwater - I would think that, especially with his shape at the time, he'd have more buoyancy. Plus, the music has that cheesy early/mid-30's style, which kind of ruins most of the effect since it's supposed to be an integral part of the cartoon.

I did not think I had to come to this but OK.
The cartoon I mentioned is a mere example. I used it just because I wanted to show how the trend here is coming to discuss, with this "hit or mess" madness, some of the worst shorts ever made (and I used Jack King's "Fish Tales" as an example because I hate it).
The point of this thread is not to know if "Fish Tales" is a hit or miss for you. The point here is to calm down the "hit or miss" madness.

I knew that's how it was supposed to be, but I gave my opinion anyway. Besides, Fish Tales isn't a cartoon that's universally regarded as bad the way the Daffy/Speedy series is. That's why a Hit/Miss poll for it would seem a little more surprising.
Usually, you're supposed to do Hit/Miss polls for cartoons of debatable quality. Otherwise, if they're just for cartoons like One Froggy Evening or Porky Pig's Feat, they wouldn't be very interesting since almost everybody (myself included) would vote "Hit." Some cartoons, like Buckaroo Bugs, actually surprised me with the number of Misses they got since I never would've thought they'd spark so much debate.
And it isn't as if every Daffy/Speedy short is universally hated. There are several, like Daffy Rents and Feather Finger, that are actually fairly well-liked amongst (open-minded) cartoon fans. It's an interesting series to do Hit/Miss polls with since opinions of the individual cartoons (not to be confused with the series as a whole) are actually more varied than you would think.

Well, I've now got to the point where I just simply ignore these numerous "Hit & Miss" polls (except this one, as I initially wondered why Duck Dodgers would want to post a similar poll, given that he so dead against them). If we just give these polls a wide berth, then the guilty party will soon tire of posting them.
BTW, "Fish Tales" is a miss! :p :p :p

The "Buckaroo Bugs" one was one of the most interesting threads here in recent times.
What I'm against is the madness. There are too many darn "hit or miss" threads here in short time, like twenty in one week or so. That's pure craziness!!
I'm not against them, I'm againt the multitude of them in a limited space of time.

I'd like to propose a rule that each individual user can post only one Hit or Miss (or Hit or Miss-style) poll per week.
We'll still get a lot of them, but perhaps this will keep there from being too many—while those who like them can still enjoy them.
Any thoughts?

I enjoy the Hit or Miss polls; they allow us each to be Leonard Maltin for a few minutes.
But too much of anything is bad.

I second this suggestion. With 1,889 members right now, this will limit the polls to approximately 270 per day.

By coincidence that just HAPPENS to be the exact same number we've already been averaging!!! So we don't have to change a bloomin' thing!:p
Of course that's not taking into account all of those delightful "worst of" polls...;)

That's a great idea, David.
Hope my friends Pietro and Jon are listening......;)
It would be nice to open the Termite Terrace page and don't find too many polls like "Bubble Bee: Hit or Miss" or "EHY! Have you ever seen 'It's nice to have a mouse around the house' while eating a club sandwich and drinking Pepsi?"

But I don't want no Pepsi! It gives me a headache!
"Okay; well, what shall we have, then?"
Coke!

I have watched "Club Sandwich" (the 1930 Terrytoon) with a mouse around the house. No Pepsi, though.
