I've seen some slight butchering of this cartoon, so I'm slightly curious of other people's thoughts about this cartoon, so Tasty or Bitter? Gotta go with Tasty. One of my favorite Davis cartoons.
NOTE:Am I the only one who likes Sylvester in this cartoon? I think he's hilarious in this one.

Definitely bitter! I don't find this cartoon funny at all. It's easily one of my least favorite Art Davis-directed WB cartoons.
The cartoon has an interesting premise but is executed poorly with rather slow pacing, uninspired, dull, and predictable gags, and a HORRIBLY characterized (not to mention poorly voiced) Sylvester. Davis did his best work when he had Lloyd Turner or Bill Scott writing stories for him and this short clearly suffers from their absence.
That's not to say I dislike Davis as a director. On the contrary, I like a good many of his great shorts from his sadly short-lived directing stint. But this ain't one of them; sorry. It's a rare miss of his. I'd much rather watch "Doggone Cats", "Dough Ray Me-ow", or "The Stupor Salesman" over this one any day.

I think it's a good one! Thankfully, Sylvester was never made this stupid again, but he was ANIMATED funny here, and the ending is too classic to pass up.

It's been a long time since I've seen this cartoon, but from what I remember of it, it's a direct hit. Art Davis is one of the most underrated directors ever IMO, and this cartoon has some great music.
