Are any of you going to be at the Ottawa International Animation Festival this year between Sept. 22 & 26?
It'll be my first time in attendance so I'm not really sure what to expect but I'm very much looking forward to it!
I just booked my weeklong Anima ticket pass (all-inclusive minus the TV animation conference) 2 minutes ago and made reservations at the Westin on Colonel By Drive.
I noticed that many of the events, workshops and presentations seem to be directed at industry insiders (animators, producers, etc) though, so I hope I'll be able to find enough to keep entertained.
My only concern is that for the costs involved and lack of interest among friends, I'll be hard pressed to convince any of my buddies to tag along for the weekend so I'm hoping that there will be plenty of other students my age to hang out with. I've been to Ottawa countless times being that I live just an hour and a bit away, and have to admit that it's quite a boring and uninteresting city... It just happens to be my birthday weekend also, and drinking by yourself on a Saturday night just doesn't feel the same!
:)
If anyone's been in previous years though, I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions if any.
If you're interested in checking out the details, the official schedule has been posted online, here. (http://www.awn.com/ottawa/prog_schedule.html)
I'm especially looking forward to the Fred Crippen and Popeye retrospectives as well as the first night competition screenings which will include a special presentation of Disney's "Lorenzo"!
Anyways, I know that there were quite a few Canadians on the old TZ boards so I was just curious if anyone else was planning on going or had any insight to offer, positive or negative... It would be cool to meet a few of you there too!
