Just wondering if anyone had picked up any books at the FCBD event today? I did pick up the Gemstone offering of Mickey's "Robin Hood Adventure" from Gottfredson. But I also found another awesome book that I wasn't even aware they were offering today.

From Fantagraphics Books The Unseen Peanuts is a wonderful find.

From the freecomicbookday.com website:

THE UNSEEN PEANUTS—FCBD EDITION

by Charles M. Schulz

Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts is the most-reprinted comic strip of all time, with literally hundreds of collections published in the last 50 years. You would expect that by now every Peanuts strip has been collected more than once... and you’d be very wrong! In fact, hundreds of Peanuts strips were never reprinted. The Complete Peanuts has been rectifying this, and The Unseen Peanuts is a special collection of over 100 of these rarities. It’s a great introduction of the strip to new readers, and a fascinating trove of rarities that will surprise and delight even the most diligent Peanuts — a perfect sampler for both neophyte and old hand!

A very well put together book. It alone was worth the trip to Charlotte for me. And it was free:cool: !!!

I was just gonna post to ask if everyone picked up their free Gemstone comic today.

I wanted to get the Unseen Peanuts and Mickey Mouse Adv, but since when do comic book stores close at 5pm on a Saturday??

What a shill...

They didn't have the Peanuts one at my comic shop. I did get the Gemstone one. I have most of that issue in Mickey Mouse in Living Color hardback but, Mickey's Rival was not in the book.

Heh, didn't think they had it on Cinco De Mayo!

Often I usually hear of FCBD being a joke, and given my view of it, it's not worth the time for me to try getting my way down to the only comic/rpg place to ask for whatever they might have (last time I tried that and was told they had nothing).

Hogan's Alley, probably one of the greatest comic strip magazine...ever, was having a special where if you emailed the publisher your mailing address on FCBD, you would get a free issue in the mail.

Naturally, I sent mine in.

I got the Mickey Mouse book along with the Peanuts book. I also found a Gumby Black and White comic and some Archie comics too. It was a good day.

Heh, I'm just a loser! I wasn't thinking of FCBD for the longest time and spent the whole yesterday inside! It was a sunny day too and I should've felt compelled to go out but temptation prevented me from taking advantage of blowing anymore cash for the time being (plus I hardly have too many places to go to anymore and the comic shop is the least on my mind).

Soon I may take a trip across time to go to this place called Anigames (though they're more about anime than games, but that's OK with me since I'm not into the RPG thing anyway). I only hope to see some genuine merchandise than the basic bootlegs I've seen elsewhere.
