from his blog (http://www.itsthecat.com/blog/):
I was honored to do the commentary on THE DAFFY DOC today, as well as LITTLE RED WALKING HOOD
well, we now know two cartoons that will be on the set.

Woohoo! "The Daffy Doc" is one of my favorite early Clampetts, and having never seen it in a form other than a heavily edited redrawn on Nickelodeon, I'm really looking forward to it (as well as Kausler's commentary - I always get a kick out of what he has to say).

Daffy Doc could be on a Daffy Duck disk, a Bob Clampett Disk, an All Stars Disk.
Cinderella Meets Fella could be on a Tex Avery disk or a Fairytales disk.
Great stuff, these are some great cartoons.

Does this mean no Art Davis disc? Oh well, maybe next year.

I don't think we will ever see a disc entirely devoted to Davis due to the fact that he directed less cartoons than the other directors and putting 15 of them in one disc would mean very few Davis shorts left for future volumes.
Maybe they could do a disc with works by Davis and McCabe or McKimson all together, to celebrate this unsung directors......like they did in the GAOLT laserdisc where, occasionally, some sides were devoted to two directors instead than one (I do remember a Tashlin/Clampett side and a Davis/McKimson side...).

That's a good idea. A disc devoted to obscure cartoons and directors

But hopefully we'll get an all-Leghorn disc on this next set (getting both would be great, though not necessarily on the same set).

I pray the Lord not to have these discs. Sorry.

Where the heck does all this McKimson hate come from? A lot of his stuff from the mid-to-late 1950s onward wasn't stellar, sure, but everything before that is superb, especially in the animation.

Huh? Hate? I just dislike the majority of his works as a director.
That does not mean that I hate the guy. How could I hate a guy of the good Golden Age days?
He was a terrific animator and he directed some good enjoable shorts between his start and 1952, but he is no way a great director. Not on pair with Avery, Clampett, Tashlin,Jones, Freleng, Davis, Culhane, Hanna-Barbera, so a disc entirely devoted to him would be a miss, but, ehy, that's my opinion so feel free to appreciate his work.
As for me, after 1952 he made 4 or 5 cartoons I can stand: animation, gags and stories only sometimes seem to work for me in the post-1952.

Man I looking foward to see those two cartoons. "The Daffy Doc" is both a childhood favorite and a current favorite, and I''ve never seen "Little Red Walking Hood" but from the what I heard about it, it sounds like a fine cartoon.

Mark Kausler knew Irv Spence (he was a close friend and teacher of his) and has a lot of great stories, so it will be great to hear him talk about Spence.

Hrm, if he's doing interviews where he talks about Harman and Ising, I wonder if we'll get some of the old Boskos and Merrie Melodies too? :bosko:
Is there a Foxy smilie? Or should I just use Mickey? :p

I have heard rumors of more black and white stuff on this next set, wish I had any backup or confirmation to give you, but it's quite possible we'll see some early 30's stuff.

I suspect we'll have a Daffy disc including lots of black and whites, and a Tex Avery disc. This sounds like a great set already.

I love Clampett's early black and white cartoons. DAFFY DOC is one of them. So, already my expectation for LTGC vol.5 is very high. I hope more black and white cartoons including this volume.
And, LITTLE RED WALKING HOOD is actually not first-rate Avery cartoons, I hope we finally get Tex Avery disc this time. If LTGC vol.5 really have Tex Avery disc, then I'll be very, very happy.

There are TONS of McKimson toons I want released, to the point you could fill an entire collection with them

A McKimson disc couldn't be any worse than a Speedy Gonzales disc. :foggy: is one of my favorite characters. That said, Bob was too controlling, and some of his later cartoons look pretty ugly.

Wow!!!
Well, I want all the LTs on DVD but I would give priority to the other directors' works. The only things I couldn't stand in the last LTGC set were the inclusion of "Rabbit Romeo" and the McKimson Speedy toons post-"Tortilla Flaps"(even if I plaude the choice of a disc devoted to highlight chronologically Speedy cartoons).
