There is a 16mm film of this title on sale at eBay. Please see this link:

Anyone know where this came from? My guess is one of John Terry's Roving Thomas cartoons from the early 20's, although I don't think the cat looks right for that series.

Although I have no idea where this cat came from, it's very rare (to a silent cartoon researcher, that is.)
I have another Kat Kartoon fron Exclusive, titled Kat in Chinatown- half the length, but intereting nonetheless.
Simply, I will be trying hard to get this one. If not, I can rely on a good friend who could pay more.
Best,
Tom

Ok, what the heck have we here? There's an Excel 100' silent cartoon up on eBay titled "The Kat in Winter Sports." Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is? It look very Krazy Kat-ish, but what's with the photgraphic backgrounds?

I didn't scan down far enough before starting a separate thread on this very same subject. :o I see that Steve Stanchfield is (or was) the high bidder on this thing. Maybe it'll surface on a Thunderbean disc in the future?:D

Don't worry, cpdavison, I have combined the two threads.
This kind of looks like a "Tad's Cat" cartoon to me, IMO, though I could be wrong.

Of course, I'm completely unfamiliar with "Tad's Cat" cartoons. Any help here?http://www.goldenagecartoons.com/forums/images/smilies/looneytunes/befuddled1.gif

Tad's Cat much skinnier and odd looking- and his cartoons were purely animated- as can be seen in Indoor Sports (1920) previously available on a Video Yesteryear tape.
I don't think anyone knows what this is, but I will be paying a lot for it- incase I didn't mention before, my friend would most certainly win it if I didn't (probably risking $100 in the bidding)
If and when I do a "Obscure Silents" disc, I will certainly include "Kat in Chinatown" which I own.

-TomWOW! http://www.goldenagecartoons.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif This 100' silent home movie ended up with a high bid of $178.98!
And just WHO is this winning bidder, waffles0391? http://www.goldenagecartoons.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif

I have corresponded with the high bidder and we are quite friendly via email. I will not reveal his identity on a forum though. The only thing I will say, though, is that there is a slight possibility I might be able to reserve a copy of this at some point, and join it up with my current Kat Kartoon.
P.S., in my four year eBay bidding career, this is the HIGHEST bid I've seen for a film this length. At 200 ft (in regards to toy films, that is), Police Dog On the Wire (Bray, 1916) chimes in at $209.

-TomQuite right not to spill the beans on an ebay bidder's identity! I really didn't expect an answer...
Glad to hear you're friendly with the winner - especially if it means the cartoon-hungry public might yet get to see it at some point!
One question, though. Where'd you get the $209 for that print of Police dog On The Wire? :D

As a matter of fact, it wasn't me that paid the $209, it was that same guy!
Funny though, someone else had that very Police Dog cartoon for sale IN an original box with other junk in a misc. category, and the seller took my offer of $15;)
Good news! I saved $194 on my copy of Police Dog Turns Nurse!
