Nice job, keep up the good work!
I too casually collect 8mm. If you have any questions or want any info on them, I'd be happy to try to answer anything.
Also, if you add a links section to your blog, I'd be more than happy to trade links with you (check mine out, the link's in my signature)

8mm? But the second film on your page (Crossed Wires) is on a 16mm reel, what's up with that?

If you look closely, the box does say 8mm. And that reel design is specifically 8mm. ;)

Huh? That brown reel with the square hole in the middle? Never seen an 8mm projector where that would fit. Both regular and super 8mm have round holes, like the grey reel on the upper picture.

I ran it through my projector, and it worked fine. I guess reels were a little different back then. The only reason it's brown is because it has rusted.

Fredrik, yes, earlier 8mm films have the same hole as 16mm films. It was sort of a universal thing back in the 30s and 40s. I think the round design started appearing in the mid-late 40s.

Best of luck with your blog & your collecting, Popeye!
Are you interested in SUPER 8mm films as well, or will your focus be on STANDARD 8, exclusively?

I would like to be interested in super-8, but i've already spent well over $50 on a standard-8 projector, and about $15 on 3 popeye films (the new one's pics coming soon!)
