Hi guys,

The original Gumby shorts are back, courtesy of Classic Media and Premavision. Yes, the original originals, with the cheesy Capitol stock music, not that weird electronic muzak. And they're restored, to boot.

They're on AOL's In2TV service, at http://www.aol.com/in2tv. Only some are up, but I assume the rest will be added in the future.

Hopefully, Classic Media and Premavision will follow this up with a new DVD set to replace the Rhino release with the redone soundtracks...

This isn't the first time restored cartoons have debuted on In2TV before commercial release (witness the Fleischer Superman shorts), but it's just as much of a shock to see them just as beautifully restored.

Apparently, the original shorts will be released to DVD later this year.

I was reading that the shorts would be restored for Gumby's 50th anniversary. What I'm not sure is if the "lost Gumby tapes" Clokey Productions was doing in conjunction with National Lampoon are still going to be produced. (These would be old Gumby shorts redubbed with new, most likely ribald, dialogue.)

The first short is currently on YouTube, with more to be added later.

In addition, the 1980's "Gumby Adventures" shorts are on Google Video for a small fee.

Oh great, I dodged a bulllet, I was about to buy the old set a few months ago but something told me not to.

It seems the first episode was removed from Youtube due to terms of use violation...

Eh? It was uploaded LEGALLY.

What was the username that uploaded the vid to YouTube? Was it Classic Media themselves?

Everytime a vid on YouTube gets taken down, a computer dies. :shame:

The username is dmgivideo, who have the digital distribution rights to it and a whole bunch of other things.

I was thinking of buying the current DVD too. It isn't expensive, but there are many volumes. I would rather just get one big set.
