Jay Kennedy, editor-in-chief at King Features Syndicate, drowned while vacationing in Costa Rica.

This is a shocking news to me. He edited and developed many comic strips through his syndicate.
Yes, there were bad sides (he picked up "Mallard Fillmore.")
However, if it wern't for him, we wouldn't have "Mutts" or "Zits" or "Retail" and countless other comic strips we amuse ourselves in our newspapers.
He will be missed.
