Over at Earl Kress' website: www.mynameisearlkress.com/weblog, he has listed some upcoming releases from WHV:

July 17 will see the release of "Space Ghost and Dino Boy" as well as "Birdman and the Galaxy Trio" onto DVD. It sounds like they will both be the complete series.

He also lists something I have not seen on any other website:

On June 26, WHV will release on DVD "The New Adventures of Batman" and "The New Adventures of Superman." The Batman animated series featured Adam West and Burt Ward as the voices of the Dynamic Duo.

Other releases in June that are mentioned: "What's New, Scooby Doo?", "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home", "Powerpuff Girls", "Animaniacs", and "Pinky and the Brain" DVD sets.

Awesome news. They may not be everyone's favorites, but I'll never get tired of the action shows from the 60s through early 80s.

Actually, I'm pretty jazzed about all this, especially the Filmation DC stuff. Before its appearance on In2TV, the Adam West "Batman" cartoon was pretty hard to come by.

I'm just hoping the '60s "Superman" series uses its original titles and such and doesn't rely on the whittled-down prints from the 1995 compilation show "The Superman/Batman Adventures," which Boomerang uses today.

Wait a minute--is "The New Adventures of Superman" technically the 60's Filmation one?

After all, "The New Adventures of Batman" is the 70's one, the one with Adam West and Burt Ward voicing their old characters.

So which Supes is it? My copies are from Boomerang, so I don't think I've ever seen an opening sequence for the show, come to think of it...

Looks like we're starting to see some early word about what we'll hear about during the upcoming Home Theater chat.

Good news about "Space Ghost" - I'll definitely be thinking about that one. What I hope it means is that we'll soon see "The Herculoids" if "Space Ghost" does well.

Yep. I suppose they were considered "new" because they weren't the live action "Adventures of Superman."

The only other show it could be would be the 1988 Ruby Spears "Superman" (another show that's been long unseen), but that was never titled or promoted as "The New Adventures of..."

I'm really curious how they're going to do this. Will the "Superboy" cartoons from the same series be included in this? Will they actually present the half-hour episodes as originally aired, or will this just be a compilation of loose shorts like some of the lazier Hanna-Barbera releases? And will this just include the material from the 1966 series, or will the later solo Superman (and Superboy) shorts from the 1968 "Batman/Superman Hour" be included as well?

I just hope Warner Home Video puts a little effort into these, especially when BCI has been churning out Filmation releases chock full of extras. I would hope Warner would invite Lou Scheimer to participate, especially considering that "Superman" was Filmation's first production.
