Here's a good cartoon to watch when it comes to controversey.

Just watch the classic Van Bueren, "Aesop Fables" 1930 cartoon "THE OFFICE BOY"...Why you say? Cause this is the cartoon that supposedly, Walt Disney took the Van Bueren Studios to court in 1931, for the fact that the mice(especially the male rodent) in this cartoon looked exactly Mickey Mouse. The story had it that Disney was upset with the New York City based studio that the main character was a dead ringer for Mickey and when seeing this cartoon, certain scenes will make your mouth drop to the floor. The rodent wears the same paints(just with one botton)like Mickey, talks like Mickey and of course, is drawn like Mickey.

I'll let you...the cartoon fans decide to see this classic gem:mickey:

Sounds hilarious, Nelson. We'll all have to see that one day.

...and yet WB's Foxy went unchallenged. ;)

Or how about all those little Mickey clones that Bosko either tortured or killed. What did Walt think of those? :mickey:

I found The Office Boy on a DVD that I found here: http://www.vitaphoneproject.com (http://www.vitaphoneproject.com/) click on Vitaphone News-Volume 6, #2. The tranfers are superb and are well worth the price. Both Leonard Maltin and Jerry Beck have links to this site from both their websites.
