Funny you should post this now. Most people on this board probably already knew this, but I just discovered yesterday that this is on Disc 2 of the Mickey Mouse Club Disney Treasures series.

I had seen the short version of the Main Title in color previously, but this was the first time I saw the long version. It's too bad they didn't include Mickey's intros and outros, as those were made in color, too.

Back in the 70's, I found a cell of Goofy from the extended opening, but I couldn't buy it because I thought it was too expensive. It was $35. Can you imagine what it's worth today?

Well don't beat yourself up too badly. If you passed on it in the very early 70's, you've probably come out ahead. The soaring inflation rates of the 70's makes that $35 worth quite a bit more today. If you passed in the very late 70's though, go ahead and beat yourself up. :D

I wondered about that right after I hit 'submit'.

I've only collected the animated shorts packages.

Fun, anyway... I existed when MMC was first broadcast, but I don't remember such an extended version that featured images of Horace, Hiawatha, Max etc... prolly very first season only, whereafter subsequent seasons got whittled down an increment or two (that I do vaguely remember).

Mmmmmm... Annette...

You mean those segments where Micky says "Hi, Mouseketeers!" (Walt's voice) and then does a short bit based on which "Day" it is?

Those are on Mickey Mouse In Living Color Volume 2.

I remember seeing a commercial in the early to mid-1970s for a mail-in TV offer with someone selling a bunch of animation cels from the Archie (Filmation) shows. I don't remember what they wanted for them...this of course is in no way comparable to Disney, but I wonder how many of those are out there, and what they go for today.

The strangest thing is that Clarabelle Cow is drawn with a then-current early 1950s model sheet, while the model on Horace comes—without question—from the 1931 merchandising model sheet. It appears nobody even had a color model on him handy, as his coloration makes him look almost black and white.

Now it's my turn to say "D'oh!" That's what happens when you have more DVD's than you have time.

It's nice that they're on there. They would have been more appropriate on Mickey Mouse Club, though.

Heh, didn't think there was a thing for that back then. I personally think the best method I ever saw to selling cels in a proper way was what Murakami-Wolf-Swenson did when that studio had it's inventory of TMNT cels get sold at Toys R Us for a good price and already pre-matted. It's only a shame other studios didn't follow suit or we could've had something nearly similar to what the Japanese had with their anime cel market.
