I am new to this board and am interested in film restoration. Is there a web site that is organized and lists materials needed by studios to restore or replace lost or missing films or clips. I thought about this after visiting a similar site for the BBC. If there isn't, shouldn't someone start one. With the proper publicity, maybe things would start turning up.

I've always wanted to plan such a database for silent cartoons. It would be a fantastic resource if it ever came true for me.

It sounds like someone needs to set up an international, online and very visible web page that can advertise "lost" film. I looked at wikipedia's page on Film Preservation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_restoration) and they mention the "Film Foundation" (http://www.film-foundation.org/).

Some of the stats on the Film Foundation's web page are depressing.
