Man, when you said "updated", I was hoping you meant, like..."better".
Still, good to hear that "Sinkin' in the Bathtub" will be on a future release, and the documentaries feature a few non-PC clips. Will still buy.

Well in all fairness... I think it should be expected now that whenever WB issues concept art for an upcoming GC, they're gonna go back 3 months prior to release and make it even uglier.

The cover looks uglier now IMO.
That doesn't hinder my anticpation for this set, though.
I don't think the packaging is that bad - I'm hella excited.
Also, is anyone else excited by the growing buzz around Pixar's The Incredibles? So many people have such great things to say about it.

Retired superheroes forced back into work = Funny
Always.
So Sinkin' in the Bathtub is now confirmed for a future Golden Collection release. I hope this means Warner Home Video is serious about bringing the more controversial classic cartoons to us.

The cover doesn't look bad. But, they still should have fixed Daff's face.
But, according to Jerry, the menus look bad.
But what the heck? We're gettin the DVDS for the cartoons! Not the menus, so I'll let it slide.

Judging from the promo with the Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection, the packaging shown on Jerry's site is the main box art -- but the slipcase has the purple color as shown in the amazon.com artwork. So the slipcase is marginally less offensive (though still not perfect).
Anyway, I'm just glad to hear that the product has turned out as it should (menus, schmenus). Hope to see some other reviews turning up soon. And a big thanks to Mr. Beck for both his hard work and his updating us on the success of the project.

Doesn't Bugs' carrot look like it's sprouting tailfeathers? :D In fact, um...never mind, I'll save my other comment for after I have the set in my hand...

Clips of :bosko:, :buddy: & other B/W cartoons in the documentaries! Clips from politically incorrect cartoons! Sounds like I'm going to be very happy!:D Nice to hear "Sinkin' in the Bathtub" will be on a future set.:bosko: :honey:

For me, the cover art really doesn't matter when you have BR cartoons being shown with their original title cards, audio commentaries, and other great special features. But I agree; the cover art looks pretty ugly.

I still Hope Duck Soup to Nuts gets it's original Title Cards on LTCG: Vol 2. I heard a Rumor (it was on this Board, i can't remember who posted it) that the UCLA Flim and Television had an original print of Duck Soup. If that's true, Hopefully, Warner Bros. was able to borrow Duck Soup (IT's kind of Likely since the UCLA is suppling Warner with the original Titles to Book Revue) from them
Edit: It was Larry T who made the comment about Duck Soup (http://forums.goldenagecartoons.com/showthread.php?t=52) . I wonder if Warner could get it from the UCLA.

I wonder if Warner could get it from the UCLA.Absolutely. If I remember correctly, Warner got the non-BR "Book Revue" that was used on LTGC Vol. 2 from UCLA, who hold the only known non-BR print. On their website, cartoons like "The Stupid Cupid" have a year listed as 1943, which hopefully refers to the year the print was made which would make it non-BR. Warners should have no problem getting any prints from UCLA, who, in some cases, probably hold the best negatives for certain cartoons.

Yeah They could.
On an unfortunate Side Note, I inquired by Duck Soup on cartoon Brew, and Jerry Beck says that the UCLA, to his knowledge, doens't have the original titles ot Duck Soup, so me and Larry T. were mistaken.

UCLA is a holding library when it comes to film. All the Warners film and elements in their collection belong to Warner Brothers. So it's not a case of going through a private collector to obtain a copy of the print.
I had read that Horton Hatches an Egg was going to be one of the bonus cartoons in the collection. Has there been any rundown on the extra cartoons in the boxset?
The updated cover looks like one of the boys in marketing realized - "Hey, how come we ain't promoting the Road Runner and the Coyote in this collection?" And someone just slapped them onto the cover and opened up the Bugs and Daffy pic. But who cares since as long as I can read the spine on the shelf, I don't.

I inquired about This Too, and Jerry Had No Comment (Prboably because he can't talk about it yet). It it isn't listed in the Wanrer Home video Press Release, so i would lke to know about it too. It's probably an Easter Egg. But I would imagine it would be Part of the MAjor Bob Clampett influence on this set (I
'm not crossing my firngers, but getting the Daffy Doc or Bacall to Arms on this set wouldn't have me in tears)
The bad cover art cannot take away from my excitement about this set at all. However, if it did have a nice cover it would have been the icing on the cake! I see these releases as a really special thing - great cartoons, wonderful restorations, excellent extras - so why not package it nicely too? I don't care for this bad collage look - Bugs looks like he's snapping Road Runner's leg off in one hand and pulling Tweety's hair (well, feathers) with the other. Overall the composition's bad and it looks a mess. Couldn't they have commissioned a new piece of art utilising a design which better show cases the characters and reflects the cartoons contained within?
Anyway what the heck am I talking about? This DVD is fantastic and I can't wait!
