This needs to be in the News & Announcements section:

2) The Acme Insider sent me a link about "Daffy Duck for President": http://www.daffyforpresident.com.

Dick Parsons owes me the four minutes and seven seconds of life I wasted listening to that awful song.

"Island of Dr. Moron": Maurice LaMarche as the "Water Water Every Hare" scientist = very good; Billy West as Bugs Bunny = WHAT'S THE MATTER, COULDN'T GET JOE ALASKEY BACK IN OR WHAT?
Other than that, not horrible. Animation could have been better, though.
EDIT: I got ten seconds into that "Daffy for President" song before I shut it off.
Yeah, I thought it was ok...too short and animation could be better, but it's a webtoon.

I thought it was a little off. The Bugs voice didn't sound any thing close. but the evil Scientist was good

I didn't care for this short that much.
Billy West was awful as Bugs Bunny, but Maurice LaMarches was great as the Mad Scientist (from Water, Water every Hare.)
This is alarming, because Daffy would probably do a better job as president then any of the candidates running... :daffy:  :tweety:

Actually, I'm pretty sure "Dr. Moron" is a rerun from the earlier webtoon series. That's why Billy West is Bugs there. :bugs2:

i tought that daffy duck for president was one of the recent looney tunes cartoons produced and not a webtoon...so the bonus short on the lloney tunes golden collection 2 will be a webtoon?
i'm a little disappointed but there's much very much to compensate in this dvd set!

As far as I understand, "Daffy Duck for President" is a "regular" cartoon and not a webtoon. Here is the press release statement:
The presidential stage has been set for the “Daffy Duck for President” Press Conference to celebrate the release of The Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume Two on DVD, from Warner Home Video (WHV). Daffy Duck for President, a four-minute short produced by Warner Bros. Animation, based on Looney Tunes icon Chuck Jones’ last book of the same title, is part of this collection.

Okay, here goes. I know this. "Daffy Duck For President" was Chuck Jones' last project, it was originally intended as a cartoon but became a storybook instead. So an inside source tells me, Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone have finished the cartoon project in honor of Chuck Jones, and it is a little over 4 minutes long, very much like the book, and Bugs and Daffy are both voiced by Joe Alaskey. It's not a web toon, it's a real cartoon, and will be released on the Golden Collection 2 DVD. That's all I know, folks. But yes, I'd take Daffy over either candidate at this point!

You are confusing the two items here, please click on the links because they are two separate stories.
One is about "Daffy Duck for President" and has a press release mentioning the new cartoon to be included on the GC2.
The other link is about a webtoon with Bugs in it that is voiced by Billy West (apparently). It's called "The Island of Dr. Moron".

The plot wasn't too bad, but the animation is still no better than the other cartoons on the site. Maurice LaMarche gets some points as the mad doctor though. I miss 'Pinky & The Brain' so much, and hearing his voice again brings back fond memories. Billy West, on the other hand, is still the wrong guy for Bugs. Should've stuck with Alaskey in my opinion. West is better off voicing Elmer anyway.

Heck, I'd vote for Daffy...we've done worse (that would make a great campaign slogan for him). Maybe with him in the White House, we'd get greater American exposure of classic cartoons. And since "the president can't pass laws", we'd still have Bugs Bunny around.

Back in 1997 (or 98, I forget), there was a humorous Garfield for President campaigne in one of the compilation books, and the slogan read "You've done worse!"
And about the cartoon, is anyone besides me bugged that the cartoon is only 4 minues long?

It's better as four minute short. While it's a nice book and history lesson, it'd make a boring cartoon. I'm sure none of us want Bugs Bunny explaining the way the U.S. government works for about four minutes

I'm sure none of us want Bugs Bunny explaining the way the U.S. government works for about four minutesYeah really. If I wanted Bugs in some kind of educational short, I'd rather they just include "An Ounce of Prevention" on the DVDs.
But also, the shorter length might be a result of wanting to remain faithful to Chuck's story without adding any new material.
Oddly enough, this short has been in the works since before the last election, so I'm very interested to see how it turns out after all these years.

Yeah, "The Island of Dr. Moron" is definitely a repeat from the earlier batch of webtoons.
The "Daffy For President" song was awful... I only made it through 40 seconds of it. I hope THAT isn't in the actual cartoon. :p

At DragonCon this past Labor Day weekend, Billy West told me he had voiced Bugs recently (1-2 years?) for a good many cartoons that remain unfinished. I can't remember the number, but it was over a dozen. He didn't mention them being web toons.
They were written (or supervised, or whatever) by one of the Futurama showrunners, perhaps Al Jean, as mentioned on one of the commentaries in the season 4 Futurama DVD set. They weren't mentioned being web toons there, either.
I suspect they were intended for theatrical exhibition but after the plug was pulled WB decided to finish them cheaply as web toons.
Interestingly, West also told me he had recorded Bugs for Back In Action but his work was replaced--against his contract, but he didn't put up a fuss, seeing as he had been paid. :)

I think he's talking about the Doyle shorts that got axed. On the "Futurama" Volume 4 DVD commentary for the episode "Less Than Hero", they got into talking about the other voices Billy West does outside of "Futurama", and Billy mentioned that he provided Bugs' voice for the unfinished Doyle cartoons. Which stinks, because I was hoping Joe Alaskey had done it.

This may be common knowledge by now, but I understand that "Daffy for President" is viewable in its entirety on 'Yahoo Movies' (with which I am totally unfamiliar).
I haven't seen the short but I have seen a few of the backgrounds painted by Mark Whiting and they are gorgeous!!
Spike and Tony did the vast majority of the animation on this project themselves and it's amazing that it is as long as it is, as there reportedly was next to no budget to produce it. It was very much a labor of love on Spike and Tony's part!

I couldn't get the video for the "Daffy for President" cartoon to show up on my Mac. It seems like it uses one of the new video formats that's not supported on Mac OS Classic...
I do have the book that this cartoon is based on , though, and recommend it to anybody who wants a cheap (but nicely done) piece of art by Chuck Jones. The sketchiness of the drawings is great and every other page is done in watercolors. (The book alternates black pencil with watercolored pencil work.)
The book is also incredibly cheap to get now, too. I saw multiple copies of it on sale at a local Dollar Store in Columbus, Ohio. Bud Plant was also selling the book for $4 recently, but why pay $4 for something that you can have in mint condition for $1?
I'm guessing the publisher of the book must not have distributed it very well at all, or people were not aware who the author of the book was. "Daffy for President" was published by the US Post Office, aka as your government dollars at work (or wasted in this case).
