As most people know, on the "Mickey Mouse in Living Color" DVD, Donald's line "Says you!" in Clock Cleaners has been redubbed with a line from On Ice, with Pluto clearly heard barking over it, because for some reason someone misheard "Says you" as an obscene phrase and the Disney company didn't want the same mistake to be made again.
However, Donald's next line, which originally was something sounding like "I'll get you, you doggone snake-in-the-grass!" has also been redubbed by some strangled-sounding squawking which doesn't sound anything like an angry Donald. Why is this? Did someone think that the words I hear as "snake-in-the-grass" sound like, well, like something we might expect Porky Pig to say when he hits his hand with a hammer?

It was Donald Wildmon who thought Donald cursed in Clock Cleaners. He is quite insane.

Yeah I'd say it's almost certain that the two redubbed lines of audio from "Clock Cleaners" both fell victim to redubbing for the same reason... With the second one getting the treatment just as a preventive measure.
It's always amazing the THINGS that any number of people THINK they hear or see in a cartoon (like the supposed frame in that one Bugs Bunny cartoon:rolleyes: ). Over-analyzing yields such "nuggets":eek:

But it wasn't any number of people, it was just ONE person who tried to get this cartoon banned from WalMart: Reverend Donald Wildmon. (http://www.answers.com/topic/clock-cleaners)

I DON'T like giving new life to patently ridiculous tales that then become the 'new urban myths', and like the mythical Dracula all-but unkillable:p. Suffice it to say that just like the others, it was the product of an overactive imagination... (Which doesn't mean anybody was dumb, stupid or insane, just that they had an overactive imagination).
He's referring to the scene where Bugs gets out of the shower in "Wabbit Who Came to Supper", where we allegedly see his penis (it's the back of the tub between his legs). Toronto film buff and sexual deviant Reg Hartt still pontificates this tale today.

Is the original Clock Cleaners audio on any website? I would like to hear if it sounds like Donald "Idiot" Wildmon thought.

(http://www.answers.com/topic/clock-cleaners)He clearly wasn't talking about that one incident - he was talking about the Bugs incident, which involved an entirely different person.

Andrea informed me a while back that an excerpt of Clock Cleaners with the original Donald audio can be found on One Hour in Wonderland (on the Alice DVD).
MY biggest concern is WHY Clock Cleaners was censored on the Treasures DVD to begin with. Walt didn't approve of it (i.e. Three Little Pigs), the controversy only arose (and quickly died down) a few years ago, and it was made available uncut on VHS and Laserdisc.
Did Disney force those involved to used the altered Clock Cleaners, or did some technician grab the wrong print by mistake?

The Disney corporation shouldn't have caved since it's obvious Walt would never have allowed Donald to say that particular word on his watch.

Oh, I dunno... I'm very comfortable perceiving them as dumb, stupid or insane.
Some people aggressively seek this stuff out... they really wanna see it... whether it exists or not.
Overactive imagination?... well, maybe – in a mental-ward kinda way.

Undubbed version on YouTube, anybody? I guess it wouldn't stay up long, but is anybody willing to try it?

You're of course completely free to think and say whatever you want to... Message boards are always filled with people slamming fellow board-members as well as authentic public figures (though here on GAC/Termite Terrace we attempt to behave better than that  ).
I was just hoping to get people to TRY to back off a little from labeling (and potentially LIBELING  ) other people that they don't actually KNOW (or really know anything about)... And particularly of people who aren't really PUBLIC figures, that's the trip-wire for somebody to say that they were libeled.

Did an altavista search and found this: http://www.awn.com/asifa-sf/0598/natnews.html Seems I was right about Donald's line being "snake in the grass" (which I believe is a standard Donald-ism) and about what it was misheard as.

Thanks for the link! Most everybody agrees that Donald's speaking is frequently pretty hard to understand;). What I CAN'T understand is WHY people (or Disney) don't take the supposed cursing instances and run them through an audio program to drop the pitch of the Ducky voice DOWN momentarily to be examined carefully. This would enable everyone to hear once and for all that the words being said were NOT curse words at all.
Likewise I WISH that everybody would realize that the Hays board REALLY did watch and listen to all films VERY closely (as well as examining scripts) before passing films. None of the alleged incidents really happened, like I said before they are the product of overactive imaginations. [And of course exempting the pre-code films].

I always knew the issue was with Donald shouting, "Says You!!" after the spring goads him on. Yeah, I can see how some people really want it to say something else.
As for the rest of the inaudible squawking, that's anybody guess. Next thing you know, the entire Donald cartoon library will be banned because some moron played the soundtracks backwards and heard sacreligious Yiddish chants anytime Donald loses his temper. Either that or they will redub every Donald Duck cartoon by hiring Pierce Bronson to eloquate Donald in a British accent so there can be no mistake as to what he possibly could be saying.
Toronto film buff and sexual deviant Reg Hartt still pontificates this tale today.
Heh. There's a spade for ya. ;)
Always remember from where those allegations originate... :D
