True tale: This morning in Penn Station, just off the train from Joisey and as I rounded a corner while rushing to catch the No. 1 local that would get me the rest of the way to work, there came the unmistakable sound of a "street" musician ... [EDIT] a piccolo player, actually ... piping out the last 10 bars of "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man."

That done, and after a short pause, he then launched into "The Woody Woodpecker Song."

(Well, everything else happened just so, anyway.) :p

Damn, I missed him. I'd much rather hear that than some of other stuff that gets played when I'm elbowing people on my way to the 7th ave exit.

I've seen the guy. He's there from time to time. He plays the piccolo.

Yes, and I stand corrected here & above. A piccolo it was. :o

He was also back today, this time playing the theme from "F Troop" (twice). :)

Did that part really happen, Geezil?

It's the little things like that which contribute to the ever-growing rage within me from living in this accursed city. Why, even today, Senator Carl Kruger is proposing a ban on using iPods, cell phones and other Personal Electronic Devices while you're walking the streets.

The official New York City motto should be: "Do as we say, not what you feel." :ysam:

Joke! Joke! Joke! Everything else up until that line was true. (See the [EVENING EDIT] above.) Relax, my friend. ;)
