I've recently obtained a copy of this cartoon and I was wondering what is your opinion about it. I'm not a fan of the limited animation UPA-style shorts (and here the animation is veeeery limited :) ), however I consider this a great cartoon, with a very good musical score, great plot and excellent narration/dialogues.
Anyone thinks the same?

Anyone thinks the same? Unfortunatly, I have not seen this film and wish it was included on the Recent Harveytoons DVD set. Are there any plans on posting stills of this cartoon on your blog? I would like to see it.:)

This was a written/directed piece (as head animator) by Irving Spector. As I said in the Harveytoons thread, the post-1960 cartoons done by Spector and/or Eddie Lawrence tend to have more adult story lines and are more entertaining than the Modern Madcaps/Noveltoons coming out around the same time from other writers. And by 1958, due to the animation budget cuts, the Paramount cartoons were almost wholly dependant on strong stories (as opposed to funny visual images) to provide the comedy.

I too would like some screen caps, as I've never seen a Famous short past 1959.

No plan to post screenshots on the blog.
This cartoon's appeal is no way in the animation but in the story.
These drawings are not the kind that I would like to see in an animated cartoon.....:D

Ahh yes! In the same way Google has always been law-abiding and now plans to walk YouTube down the path of righteousness. I could not say for certain that the "Big G" has ever legally strayed. However, aren't our own purposes of animation research at least as well-intentioned as their ethics? :befuddled

Maybe the emoticons failed to convey the tongue-in-cheek tone which the posts took; if there were an emoticon for groveling belly-up plea I would have used it. I fully respect Duck's decision not to post anything. In fact, he didn't even have to offer a reason. But since he might have been worried about legalities (with his use of :D) I thought it fair to reply in kind.
At worst, this might become OT, in which case perhaps someone could point me to a thread -- if one exists -- where this has already been parsed. If not, then maybe I would start one regarding it, seeing as how I have uploaded a couple dozen scans of material to this forum of which I am not the copyright holder. Should I be worried? What is that dusky nether-area between research and infringment? The Duck has gotten me :befuddled and a little  !
