View Full Version : Hit or Miss: The Draft Horse
What do people think of this Chuck Jones one-shot?
I consider it a Hit for all the goofy gags (the eye chart with a cuss word in it, say "Ah", etc). It's the only time I've seen a horse character be the star of a short and be appealing. The ending kind of went off on a tangent, but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

I liked it.
Typical good WW2 short. I liked Snafu's cameo.

Loved it..loooooved it.
Hilarious from beginning to end!!!!
Should be on Wave 3 of Looney Tunes along with Jones' other one-shots from the 1940's like Fox Pop, Saddle Silly and Quentin Quail

What else can I say? This one is definitely a HIT! The gags in this one are a scream such as the destruction the horse causes when he forgets to undo his harness as well as his patriotic fighting speech ("I'm gonna be a soldier! Bang! Bang! Bang! I'll annihilate 'em. That's what I'll do!"). Not to mention the horse's screaming fit when asked to say "ah".
"The Draft Horse", I think, is one of the first Chuck Jones-directed cartoons in which Jones deliberately tried to be funny (to break away from the Disneyesque cartoons he had been directing beforehand). And funny this cartoon is. As I said, it's a hit.

Funny, I had the same thoughts when I started this thread.

This cartoon is a hit. It's a really funny one-shot and I always get a kick out of this one. I love the "AH!!" part and the rendition of "You're in the Army Now."
