In the talkback thread for Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol. 4, I said that since volume 4 only had post-1948 Bugs Bunny cartoons, it might be good for volume 5 to have only pre-1948 Bugs Bunny cartoons. So I have been thinking, and I think this would make a good Bugs Bunny disc:
A Wild Hare (unless a Tex Avery disc is planned)
Elmer's Pet Rabbit
The Wacky Wabbit
What's Cookin', Doc? (if a Bob Clampett disc is planned, then put in Hawatha's Rabbit Hunt instead)
Buckaroo Bunny
Hare Trigger
Hare Meets Herr
A Feather in His Hare
The Old Grey Hare
Racketeer Rabbit
Buccineer Bunny
Hare Ribbin' (unless a Bob Clampett disc is planned)
Fresh Hare
Jack Rabbit and the beanstalk
Hold the Lion, Please!
special features could include the uncut Any Bonds, Today? (the uncut Southern Fried Hare is available, with Bugs in blackface). The directors cut of Hare Ribbin' should also be included. It would probably be wishful thinking for All This and Rabbit Stew (which isn't really that good of a cartoon) and Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips to be included.
I think that commentary should be given for A Wild Hare, What's Cookin', Doc?, Hare Ribbin', Elmer's Pet rabbit (not really that deserving, but noteworthy for the fact that Bugs Bunny is first named in this short, and because his voice and gloves are different), The Old Grey Hare, Hare Meets Herr, Hare Trigger, The Wacky Wabbit, and Racketeer Rabbit.
What do you all think?

Good list. I'm actually surprised that several of these cartoons, like Jack Wabbit And The Beanstalk, haven't yet been released on a Golden Collection. That's often considered one of the greatest Bugs cartoons of all time.

I'm betting that they want to spread these out a bit. Mixing them into discs filled with 50's and 60's Bugs cartoons would probably make more sense.

Of course, I don't really care too much for some of the post-1948 cartoons Ilisted, like Jack Rabbit and the Beanstalk or Buckaroo Bunny.

Buckaroo Bunny, do you mean Buckaroo Bugs?
That's one cartoon i like to see comentaries on, could be fun to hear.
I hoping i get my sets very soon. I had to delay
adding to my DVD collection cause of prior commitments
and holiday seaon spending.
But I am hoping i get my sets soon.

Here's my idea for an all pre-48's :bugs2: disc:
A Wild Hare
Elmer's Pet Rabbit
Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt
All This and Rabbit Stew (you never know...)
Hold the Lion, Please
Fresh Hare
Jack-Wabbit and the Beanstalk
What's Cookin' Doc?
Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips (again, you never know...)
Hare Ribbin'
Buckaroo Bugs
Herr Meets Hare
The Unruly Hare
Racketeer Rabbit
Buccaneer Bunny

That would make for some interesting commentary. Specifically, hearing how Red Hot Rider influenced the later Yosemite Sam.

True, True, plus how that battle had split Clampett from the others of TT. Also Other ideas of the cartoon to, such as the making Bugs a marouding rabbit.
It would be interesting as well to include on that DVD the 'Bugs Bunny prototype' shorts, i.e. those prior to the first 'official' Bugs cartoon (A Wild Hare): Porky´s Hare Hunt, Presto Change-o and Elmer´s Candid Camera.

I found it odd that the FIRST appearance of "What's Cookin', Doc?" on a LTGC wasn't in its cleaned-up, restored form, but as one of the shorts on a documentary from 1975. It certainly deserves restoration, given how funny it is.
I certainly wouldn't mind seeing "Elmer's Pet Rabbit" again, too. Wasn't that a short where Bugs's voice was different than usual? Like, much more gangster-y?

No, they actually made the voice to be more similar to "Happy Rabbit" who has been known to be the prototype Bugs Bunny. One of his cartoons is Elmer's Candid Camera.
PS: I doubt that Bugs Nips The Nips and Rabbit Stew will show up on a Golden Collection any time soon, I could imagine seeing Herr meets Hare, because it's not really offensive. (unless you're a nazi.:p)
