Sorry I haven’t been posting frequently.:o Just been busy.:shame:

Anyway……..:)

Yep, you guessed it, (yet) another Hit or Miss thread about the :daffy:/ :speedy: parings.

I voted Hit btw. It’s my favorite:daffy: and :speedy: cartoon.:D The cartoon had very funny gags,:) a great concept and I liked the mayor’s puny name (Phur E. Katt).:D :daffy: :speedy:

Yeah, I vote Hit, too. It gives Daffy a reason to being mean to Speedy. Plus, in a way, you can't help but feel sorry for that little black duck for what he goes through. I like the music in this one, too - Walter Greene, I think. He really brought out the Western Feel in this animation.

And an added bonus, the Mayor Cat is hilarious as a one-shot character. Mel Blanc's "Marvin" voice always makes me chuckle.

Hit. Walter Greene's musical score is surprisingly catchy (particularly that little steel guitar number that plays during the song's opening credits as well as certain scenes within). Daffy's whole attempt at pretending to be a western gunslinger is funny. And the ending is probably one of the few Daffy/Speedy endings that actually makes sense.

I vote "hit." Walter Greene rocks, as usual. This film has some amusing throwaway lines like "This is getting monotonous"--perhaps a reference to the Schlesinger-era's "Monotonous, isn't it?"

For a Warner cartoon in general, I'd vote for a "miss," but for a Daffy/Speedy cartoon, I'd go with a "hit." This was, to my knowledge, the only cartoon where Daffy actually caught Speedy and carried out his plan (that is until the mayor cheated him out of the reward).:daffy::speedy:

I really like this cartoon. I hope that it gets included in volume five or six of the Golden Collection. However, this is not the only time Daffy caught Speedy. He, or more acurrately his robot Herman, caught Speedy in Daffy Rents, but his robot let Speedy loose when Daffy mentioned that he wasn't going to pay his robot.

Hit. For me it's the second best Daffy/Speedy cartoon after Daffy rents. If these two particular cartoons (and maybe 3 or 4 others) have been the only D/S shorts, nobody would be bashing the series.
