Southern Fried Rabbit is online in its entirety at Looney Tunes - Cartoons (http://looneytunes.warnerbros.com/web/toons/toons.jsp). Besides the three Bugs disguises shown on every print I've seen, there are two controversial ones -- unseen by me until earlier today.

IMO the sight of a brown Bugs begging for mercy isn't very funny -- regardless of his color. And the Lincolnesque Bugs doesn't tickle the funnybone much as he chastises Sam. The best thing about those two bits is Sam's dumbfounded stance, until the rabbit lets his tail show and Sam notices (constricting pupils and all). That's when the laughs come. :D

For the most part, this cartoon is funny and well-crafted, starting with the Art Davis animation of Bugs on barren "Yankee soil". The only continuity flaw of note may have been caused by a change of animators -- when Sam first meets "Scarlett," the crown of his head is almost bald. After he's blasted by the cannon, his crown is hairy. It looks like Virgil Ross took over the film once Sam was in the mansion, and animated the remainder.
