Here is an ad from 1989 that appeared on some Warner Home Video videos that year (such as BATMAN):

It is one of Mel's final performances as Bugs and Daffy. Matthew pointed out that Daffy's voice changes over to Jeff Bergman at the very end.

Bergman picks up as Bugs at "It's all in the catalog!" .... Creepy!

And a 900 number? Geez, Daffy must be wanting to make some money on the side... :daffy:

Yeah honestly Thad, that was a little creepy.

Why not redub the whole thing?

Woah, you're right. And then it switches back to Mel when Bugs says "So, when you get a chance...".

Is the "Don't forget to call, folks" at the end also Mel or is it Bergman?

This makes for an interesting experience to hear one of Mel's last recordings as Bugs and Daffy in the same spot as one of Jeff Bergman's ealriest.

Also, someone needs to post on Youtube the commercial that appeared at the beginning of Daffy Duck's Quackbusters in which Daffy becomes incensed at the idea of being compared to "that other duck who can't even talk straight"

For just an insanely little bit of trivia, there were three versions of that commercial.

1. Original version with all-Blanc voices and an 800 number. Shown on the "Police Academy 5" rental video from late 1988.

2. Exactly the same as the first version save for one minor difference. Bugs's line about the catalog offering "videos" has been changed to "movie books." Blanc loops in the new dialogue. Shown on the "Beetlejuice" rental video from late 1988. If one was to call the 800 number to order a catalog, they were asked which of the two movies they saw the commercial in front of.

3. The one Jon posted, shown before the first edition of the "Batman" video from late 1989 (which was available to both rental and retail outlets at the same time). The catalog number is now a 900 number and all references to the catalog being "free" have been changed to being "new." The "WB" cover on Bugs's catalog has been changed to a Batman cover. Bergman loops in the following lines: "A new Warner Bros. catalog," "It's all in the catalog, which you can get now by dialing dis 900 number," and "No, no, they have to call NOW! They can't watch the movie until they order their new catalo--" All other dialogue is Blanc from the first two versions.

I would love to see these trailers (plus Daffy's "Do you know me?" one) together on a future "Golden Collection," although I have a feeling the phone numbers used on the screen would probably cause some legal problem.

My family got the Batman video when it first came out, so I remember that commercial, but never noticed at the time the difference in Bugs' voice. One question, though: why did Bergman re-do Daffy's lines at the end? What was different between that and the old lines?

The original line was "No, no, they have to call now. They can't watch the movie until they order their free catalo--." The "free" catalog became a "new" one, probably because one would now have to use a 900 number to order it.

It was Bergman? At the time I was under the impression it was Noel, during his very brief stint at doing the voices.

That's definitely Bergman doing Daffy. His Daffy has a unique sound to it, which lets you know when he's doing it (the same with Alaskey's Daffy; it sounds something like a grown-up Plucky). I'm not sure about Bugs, but I doubt they'd have Bergman only do Daffy. It was a brief spot to begin with, and only a few lines were redubbed.
