The animationarchive.org site has posted info about (and a downloadable video file of) CATNIP CAPERS (http://www.animationarchive.org/2006/07/filmography-catnip-capers-1940.html), a pretty wacky Terrytoon.

FYI, FWIW.

We all know that catnip is kitty cocaine, making catnip capers one of the first trip films. Pass the bong, dude!

OK, that does it, Thad. See you out by the woodshed at sunrise. Freshly washed cels at 10 paces. You bring the cels! ;o)

Frank asked me ten reasons why Mike Barrier is wrong about Terrytoons, excluding Jim Tyer. In the Thad K fashion, here's my answer...

1. Miami Maniacs
2. Post War Inventions
3. Triple Trouble
4. Cat Happy
5. Barnyard Actor
6. Hare-Breadth Finish
7. The Power of Thought
8. Mother Goose's Birthday Party
9. Blind Date
10. How to Relax

Geezil oughta like that one. :mighty:

See that fraternity paddle resting against the woodshed, Thad? You know what to do... :shame: ;)

Felt more like a Late-30's MGM Cartoon than a Terrytoon. I can see why Thad K. doesn't like it.

I agree. The design and the backgrounds remind of late Thirties/early Forties MGM production. Ther are Impressive background in this cartoon I have to admit.

By the way, the animation of the harem female kitties was re-used...TWICE! The feline girls danced for Sourpuss in Gandy Goose' "Somewhere in Egypt" and appeared in Heckle and Jeckle's "King Tut's Tomb" too!

Thad forgot the terrific "The Wolf's Pardon" in his list...great story idea and good cartoon!;)

Agreed - this cartoon is "no great shakes" but I'm always appreciative any time someone flips over a rock and shares something like this.

I recently saw an unexpected "freak-out" sequence in a silent(!) Terrytoon, i.e. "Small Town Sherrif." In this one, Farmer Al Falfa gets ahold of some questionable bootleg hootch and ends up hallucinating pretty heavily. (It's on one of Tom Stathes' DVDs - a subject worthy of it's own thread!)

Burt, I'm sure you and Thad can work out your problems amicably. But just in case, have someone bring along a digital camera. We can post the resultant photos on the ASIFA website...

LOL ... thanks, Craig. And I think those cels just melted in the midday heat Out Here anyway.

Aside to Thad: Have the cold drink of your choice today, on me. (Just don't shake up the bottle first!) :)
