I just read on the digital bits, that on the upcoming new editions of superman 1 and 2 movies, as extras they will include the cartoons! The first half of the cartoons will be on superman1, second half on part 2.Im glad i didnt buy them till now, the site states this is the best restoration the classic superman toons ever had.

The first nine will be on the Superman '78 4-disc SE while the other eight will be on the Superman II 2-disc SE. It's important to note that two editions of Superman II will be out... the new re-cut and the 2-disc SE. The SE is the 1980 cut, but has the cartoons as an extra. The re-cut doesn't have the cartoons. No idea why it's not all in one package.

That's so they can milk us. Most Superman fans have the first 2 movies already, so the cartoons are supposed to get us to waste our money on them again (not going to happen in my case). The re-cut of Superman 2 is entirely new so no additional enticements are needed. I suspect they'll eventually put out a single disc of all the cartoons next year sometime, when they think they've milked everyone they can. If they don't, my Bosko video set will do just fine.

So does this mean these cartoons will look even better than the diamond collection version or the same ?

Of course, I read this the day AFTER I bought the new VCI Superman DVD. Actually, it's not bad, but having just skimmed through it quickly, I still think the Bosko disc is better (other than their superimposed release dates). These cartoons seem to "fade up" a little bit, trimming the very beginnings a little, and they seem kind of slightly fuzzy. Also, "Terror On The Midway" has the freeze-frames at the beginning. On the plus side is the serial trailer and the interviews, which I haven't checked out yet...of course, I imagine whatever WB releases, given that they have the original elements, will blow away whatever is out there now...kind of how I used to think the 1980s remasters of the a.a.p. WB cartoons were so clean and pristine compared to the nasty faded, worn, off-color 16mm TV prints I'd seen up to then...but try A/B ing them with the new remasters on the official DVDs.

There's one other thing I sincerely hope they'll do in the process, which I've mentioned in several posts within other threads (and to which I'll refer anyone who doesn't yet know what that might be). Please keep any further comments on this point within PMs or e-mails, and thanks. ;)

Oh yes, I remember Thad's prediction of the Warner and VCI presentations of the Superman cartoons on another forum: one would have bad DVNR and the other would have bad compression due to the cartoons being packed on the DVD's like sardines

Im thinking of double dipping on the cartoons, as in getting the superman 2 s.e dvd in november, and getting 1 of the current releases, is the diamond collection the best dvd right now ?

Also forgot to ask if the diamond dvd has the paramount title card in each cartoon.
