That's some great animation used there!
I have a question: why does it seem that the MGM characters are being used more and more in advertising overseas then here in North America?
Looney Tunes characters have been used a lot but why not other characters from other studios? That would be cool.

A wolf has a loving habit for cars, now? That's weird, but hillarious. :wolfie:
Good find there, laugh4me.

That's a good question, JPox! My theory is that MGM characters were popular in France after the release of Tex Avery collection, so they used MGM characters to advertise something. I could be wrong but I wish someone from France will answer that question.

Thanks for sharing that with us, I loved it!:D  What year is that ad from? The animation reminds me a bit of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Why does Europe have the best monopoly on the classic cartoons and cartoon merchandise anyway? All of the standard quality versions of rare cartoons and cartoon DVDS are european. Do you see the Compleat Tex Avery being released in the United States? Do you see standard quality versions of Censored 11 and other rare cartoons in the States? Do a lot of people here even know about :wolfie: :red: :droopy: ?That doesn't seem right to me. Very unjust.:(

Tis a great commercial... Tex MIGHT almost be pleased!
That's interesting. The credits that roll along the bottom say that the commercial was complete in 1999.

This is the best thing to bring a smile to my face all week. It's even better than the free ice cream I had yesterday. Thanks for sharing.

In answer to your question, probably for the same reason that big Hollywood stars, who would never do ads in the USA for fear of looking "un-hip", will happily do dodgy ads in Japan or Scandanavia for lots of cash, because they think that the rest of the world will never see them... Now, maybe that made sense at one time, but don't these people realise that we can now see ads from all over the world via the good old internet?
Still, having said that... nice animation, in keeping with Avery's work...

I slowed down the play of the cartoon by pausing it and moving the slider because I wanted to know what the fast-moving crawl says. It's simply a copyright notice in French that states that the characters are owned by Turner Entertainment. My high school French was good for something...
First there was some ad in Europe for an English Ford with Tom and Jerry, now theres this one. I think the companies in the US are way less creative with their ads as I'd love to see a classic cartoon character play with some car or something rather than some loser driving down the road and some lame music playing. Kind of dumb when in Europe they use characters from the US to maket their cars yet in the actual US the companies they seem to enjoy watching some lame car go down the road with what is usually lame music. I think car companies in the US need to get creative with their junky vehicle designs and ways to save gas aswell as advertisements.

That's very true! One that comes to my mind too often from Japan has Schwarzenegger acting like an hysterical idiot!

We'll have to keep watching out for more!

This reminds me of something I've heard about how these Hollywood companies often tend to do better business overseas through having satellite offices that do tend to release things far in advanced of what we can expect in the US. The foriegn market tends to take on higher priorites over domestic, mostly due to the mentality of America being looked at as the mecca of entertainment, and often it's not unheard of to hear of something getting released elsewhere that hasn't or won't be released in the US.
