I was thinking of the CBS show Rescue 911 hosted by William Shatner. It had reenactments of real-life situations where a call to 911 saved the day so to speak. In the show's first season, there were cartoon sound effects used in the reenactments. Examples include the Hanna-Barbera car skid sound and some Treg Brown Looney Tunes sounds such as the thud and flamethower. Sometimes it really creeped me out. Something about cartoon sounds trying to describe a real situation involving real people is unsettling to me. Anybody have a thought here?

Well, those are some slightly more realistic sound effects. If they ever used any of the more bizarre ones like, say, the trombone gobble or the bayowhup, then it'd be kinda weird.

slightly is just the word.
