This article (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=118672%5D) on Toon Zone doesn't have very good news about the future of Boomerang. The sad thing is, we all saw this coming...

If the new [Cartoon Network preschool] bloc is successful, the [Wall Street Journal] reports, Cartoon Network is prepared to convert its Boomerang channel into a preschooler channel.

Wow... Boomerang? A preschool network? Whodathunkit? I for one think that when CN debuts the preschool block, it's going to bomb. If they think it's going to survive, then they've got to compete with both PBS, and Nick Jr. Plus there is going to be quite a backlash from fans of Boomerang if they switch to a preschool schedule. I for one would rather see the preschool shows get their own network. That way, they would'nt have to dump all their preschool crap on an already established network.

Man, that post sure had used the word "preschool" alot in it.

To my knowledge Martin, Teletoon had a preschool block every morning since its first day of broadcast. But I agree that the time shares they used to give to classic animation, be it cartoons from the golden age or classic tv series are more and more filled by newer (and lesser IMHO) shows.

Ok. Thanks for information! :)

Cartoon Network is desperate for a Dora the Explorer or Blues Clues type show that they can pimp to little kids. Cartoon Network sees all the $ Nick makes by merchandising those 2 shows.

How one network can get so despicable in one lifetime is, is beyond me! It isn't as though I haven't watched a lot of networks, goodness knows it isn't that! It isn't that, that, goodness knows...it isn't...it's...it's desss-picable.

I predict that six months from now "Looney Tunes" will not be broadcast on TV anywhere - for the first time in fifty years.

No, they will probably just won't be broadcasted in the US. Cartoon Network Japan & Cartoon Network Latin America still care about America's animation history.

Time Warner is making a huge mistake turning Boomerang into a preschool channel. However, I think the problem with Boomerang is that in addition to all the gold nuggets from the Hanna-Barbera library, they also aired all the junk that most of us would rather forget. (Even if they were guilty pleasures to some of us) I think what they needed was more gold nuggets in their lineup (Not just from the Hanna-Barbera library) so that the channel would look somewhat more attractive to cable providers. Boomerang could've been the animation equivilant to TV Land, but Time Warner missed the oppertunity to present that channel in such a way. :ysam:

Gosh, I hope they don't do that. It's bad enough that there's nothing good on CN anymore. I was even thinking about subscribing to Boomerang when I can afford it. But there's no point in doing that if they make it into a preschooler channel.

Looks like the Preschool branding of Boomerang is officially going to begin next month.

From Toon Zone (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=119541):

Boomerang has devised a way to help preschoolers learn their colors -- Favorite Color Fridays. Favorite Color Fridays is a programming tribute to cartoon characters that share a similar hue in the rainbow. Every Friday during September Boomerang will present a 24-hour marathon salute, 8 a.m. to 8 a.m., to one or more color-coordinated cast members from the Hanna-Barbera and Warner Bros. animation libraries. The object is to give kids a chance to pull out their crayon boxes and pick favorite coordinating shades to help celebrate Favorite Color Fridays, while at the same time enjoying the characters and becoming as familiar with them as their parents did a generation ago.

You would think that after nearly 17 years, media big wigs would finally get it through their thick heads that animation is more than just a kids medium. Now we're going right back to square one again! The morons win, and we lose! :ysam:

How you say by "where the animation medium is Much More Revered and Respected"?

Our Canadian animation are now a big quality and are good reasons to airing in United States. ;)

Believe it or Not, I'm not too disappointed that Boomerang's going bye-bye. It's nigh impossible to get in satellite packages, There's Far Too Much 60's and 70's crap (This is the definite low-point of Hanna-Barbera's career), Last Time I Checked, Bommerang no longer shows Casper and Friends. As for the Looney Tunes and Tom And Jerry, I don't know about you guys, but i'm not to keen about watching the same censored, blurry, TV prints we've been watching for Decades. I prefer to wait until November where a Bunch of Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry Cartoons will be restored for DVD.

Don't they already have enough preschool garbage on TV as it is? This is a disgrace to the great animators and directors who produced the Looney Tunes and other classic cartoons. Then again, since some of us don't have Boomerang anyway, we won't be missing much.

Anyway, you will be missed Boomerang.:( :bugs1: :daffy: :sylvester :tweety: :shame: :ysam: :coyote: :beepbeep: :lepew: :marvin: :coolcat: :dodo: :slow: :speedy: :tomcat: :jerry: :twoshoes: :sailor:

I believe Strong Bad said it best when he hosted his own "preschool program"...

And this applies to the network executives at CN...

I'll kill all your dolls!

But seriously, CN, please don't take Boomerang off the air. It's the only place where I can watch the original Space Ghost and Birdman and Perils of Penelope Pitstop and Atom Ant and Super Friends all the funny stuff. If you remove Boomerang from the broadcast schedule, you will wind up alienating a great portion of your audience, and they'll stop watching your channels and turn straight to their DVDs. Would you want them to turn you off completely? Please don't kill Boomerang.

I'm writing this here because I know you have spies who look through the Internet for what people think of your decisions.

I couldn't agree more. Strong Bad has another good quote. "I've got two words for the children who are raised on that crap. Held back, repeating the third grade, low standardized test scores. I guess that was more than two words." :daffy:

Why does CN hate us so much? I mean, that channel is NOTHING but kiddie anime shows, Kids Next Door reruns and marathons of Billy & Mandy, The Powerpuff Girls and Ed, Edd N' Eddy. Oh, yeah, 8 hours of Scooby-Doo a day. I'm telling you, if I had a TV show (Tom, your cue. ;) ;) ) I'd respect classic animation.
