Hi Guys,

I have just listed a rare "Kodak Cinegraphs" catlogue from March 1931 on ebay - it has a large section of cartoons - featuring some - Felix the Cat cartoons and a lot of "Fairyland" stop motion cartoons mostly featuring 2 caractors one called "Snap" and another called "Chip" and a group of films called "Doodlebugville" and others. There is also a large group of travel, adventure, animal, history and WW1 films listed in the catalogue.

Here is the link

Thanks for looking,

I don't know....It's hard to top this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ELVIS-PRESLEY-DOMAIN-NAME-COLLECTION-HOT-WOW_W0QQitemZ9727297899QQcategoryZ11153QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem), but I must admit that it must be interesting to flip through an old catalogue and see that kind of content. Whoever buys your book will be very fortunate indeed.

Henry,
If I had extra cash on hand I'd bid. Is a Sullivan film called "Chestnuts" listed anywhere it in?
Yours,
Tom

One thing really struck me when looking at the images of this catalog: the price of nearly everything has increased astronomically since 1931, but the price of watching movies in your own home has actually declined! The films seem to range in price from $6-$24 for 4-15 minute film reels, and today you can get many movies on DVD in that same price range but are 1- 3 hours long. Individual cartoons seemed to run about $6, and today they're going for under $1 each (on the LTGCs and WDTs). I'm sure you can buy a TV and DVD player today for what they must have been charging for a home movie projector and screen in 1931 (inflation-adjusted, anyway). I can't think of anything else that's actually cheaper in 2006 than it was in 1931.

What cost $24 in 1931 would cost $265.96 in 2005. Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2005 and 1931,
they would cost you $24 and $2.17 respectively. Do you want to do another calculation (http://www.westegg.com/inflation/)?

Wow, the cost of one 15 minute film reel in 1931 would buy you all 3 LTGCs and 5 WDTs today. That's a great site, BTW.
