For those who've never seen it, here's Casper the Ghost's second screen appearance, 1948's "There's Good Boos Tonight". It unfortunately has the ugly bars over the Paramount and Technicolor names, but it is complete, in all it's traumatizing glory!

I remeber seeing this exact same copy on a "50 of the Greatest Cartoons" PD VHS compilation, an NTA print that was "restored" by splicing 1947 (or so) Paramount opening and closing logos over the NTA ones, but retaining the black bars.
All that aisde, I'll add that this is probably one of the most despressing cartoons i have ever seen (this and the Little Audrey cartoon "Song of the Birds")

I've always felt that Fleischer's original rendition of SONG OF THE BIRDS was more emotional (I don't see any 'sad' cartoons as depressing per-se). It's the fact that a little boy, macho in his aspirations, was humbled by the bird's injuries. Audrey would feel and show deeper sympathy but we sort of expect that from most normal girls.
