Hey, anyone have any info on whether or not WBHV is releasing a fourth Looney Tunes Golden Collection or a third Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection this fall? I thought we would have heard something by now.

I have a feeling there won't be any more Tom and Jerry sets mainly because a majority of the good cartoons have already been released. A new set would be full of mid-to-late 50s cartoons, though I wouldnt mind getting more remastered cinemascope prints. Since the odds are that WB is certainly not ballsy enough to put "Mouse Cleaning" and "A Mouse in the House" on DVD almost the entire 1940s output has already been accounted for.

Why no word on Looney Tunes? When have we found out DVD info in the past?

There will be a fourth Looney Tunes collection this year for sure. It's going to be an interesting set, to say the least.

Oh that's good. I hadn't heard anything about it. What makes you say it's going to be so interesting?

I guess the T&J sets are finito. I'm glad I picked up some of those UK sets a few weeks ago, but I'm still waiting for better copies of a few key cartoons. ;)

I know something I won't tell, I won't tell, I won't tell! I know something I won't tell! Nya, nya, nya,nya!

:D

The question remains - when are we finally going to see fully restored prints of Good Night Elmer and The Night Watchman? Will we have a whole disc devoted to the Buddy masterpieces?

Thad's got connections. We just don't know what they are.

The news regarding the contents of the LTGCs usually shows up around July, so we've still got a ways to go.

If LT Vol 4. is interesting in a positive way, That probably means that this will be (once again) the must have Cartoon DVD set of the year (unless Disney decides to do something really spectacular with Wave 6 of the Treasures)

Well - if UltimateDisney is right, wave 6 will finish off the Silly Symphonies and the Pluto cartoons. There'll also be a set called "Your host - Walt Disney", which will include several episodes of the Disneyland show. The fourth set will be dedicated to The Hardy Boys.

I'm a little surprised that this wave doesn't include a Donald set. There should be two more Donald sets, and I didn't think there were enough unreleased Disney cartoons to fill two more DVD sets. Well, we'll see, I guess.

We all know that the Golden Collections get better with every set.;) As for the Disney Treasures, I'll definitely pick up the Silly Symphonies set.

There should be plenty of T & J sets for years to come, as they have not released any undubbed Mammy cartoons, and they have no problem with duplicating cartoons already released and even the same cartoon on multiple Spotlight Collections. Spotlight on Texas Tom ! Yeah !

I know your joking but you know that's just not true. Out of the 15 Mammy cartoons on the second collection only 4 cartoons were redubbed.

It would be nice if Warner released a version of the LTGC on HDDVD.

Now that would be nice!!!!!

Just a little over half of all the Disney shorts have been released on DVD via the Tresures sets--over 300 cartoons, and there are over 300 more to go, some of which may not appear due to the fact that the Company may not be able to find copies in time. (Some of the Alices, Oswalds, and Laugh-O-Grams are some of his better-known cartoons series containing "lost" cartoons. He had a few series that little is known about, but they weren't as high-profile as were these, and were largely advertisements.) They've got a bunch of miscellaneous cartoons to release, and (who knows?) they may even release a set dedicated to Mickey, Donald and Goofy pairings. If the Treasure sets continue long enough, they may be able to release a Mickey Mouse in 3D, or The Complete Blu-Ray Goofy. They went up to the year 1994 with the Mickey Mouse in Living Color vol. 2 set, so they may go up to the present date or beyond, inculding a slew of 'toons that were made in 1999, for example. We'll just have to wait and see.

I wasn't joking. I think I just watched the few that were dubbed and stopped. But there were also chopped versions of cartoons that had already been released chopped on other DVDs.

Really. I think they did all the remastering at 2K, so the HD versions should look fantastic.

Although, it looks like 4x3 films will take a little longer to hit. WB is releasing the first HD DVD of a non-widescreen film (The Maltese Falcon), so who knows.

I do believe that there are just enough Tom & Jerry (classic H/B MGM, that is) for another Spotlight volume. The questions, of course, are a) will they be edited, and b) will they be restored any better.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next Looney Tunes set!!!

Sure there are. But the fact is that the set will pretty much end up including just cartoons from the mid-to-late 50s. Which may or may not be appealing for everyone. All the best cartoons either have been released already or simply can't be released.

Come on! You can't have a Tom and Jerry Spotlight Collection without "Texas Tom". It just wouldn't be the same.
