I just found something really interesting on TCM'S November schedule that it looks like that TCM will premiere a montly cartoon series, probably the same the channel does their thirty minute "Festival Of Shorts" series. The name of the news series will be called TCM'S "Cartoon Alley" and will begin to air on November 6th 2004 at 9:30am (est) and throughout the entire month on the all classic movie channel.I can't say what type of cartoons will be shown or will the new format feature uncut cartoons(even though TCM has aired editied cartoons in the past)but I will try to find out more on this new series.

Interesting. Sounds like a rebranded Acme Hour.

If only my local Comcast cable operator offered Turner Classic Movies.

I hope this doesn't give Cartoon Network an excuse to cut back on classic animation even more than it already has.

Cartoon Network does not have any excuses on classic cartoons, as they feel their viewers want brand new material and not the classics, as it's been like that for the last couple of years. The deal with TCM, has been long in the making, as many people felt that TCM would be the better choice to air classic cartoons than CN or Boomerang combined.

YAY! TCM is one of my favorite stations, so I'll be watching this. Maybe we'll see some :bosko: or :buddy:.

Maybe we'll see some ancient stuff from the late 19th century, coupled with anything up till 1980.

This sounds very interesting, and I'm anxious to see what cartoons they will choose. I am a subscriber to TCM's "Now Playing" magazine, so if it's not on the website by mid-October (which is about the time that I'll recieve the November issue) I'll post the details.

This sounds great! I hope they'll eventually make this a weekly series (at least) rather than repeating through the month. :D

I always thought a classic cartoon show would be a natural for TCM. Hopefully this is just the beginning...

I wish I had TCM instead of AMC.
Remember when AMC stood for American Movie Classics? Remember when they actually showed bonafide classic movies, in proper aspect ratio and sans commercials? Remember when Bob Dorian and Nick Clooney were your genial on-air hosts? Remember "Remember WENN"?

*sigh*...

So any word on the contents of Cartoon Alley? Anyone know any contacts within TCM we could pester, uh i mean politely ask?

Remember when AMC's hosts included Debbie Reynolds, Donald O'Connor, and Cesar Romero? Remember a half hour of Betty Boop cartoons every Saturday morning? The occasional Puppetoon, usually with original titles?

I didn't have cable TV for a long time because of living in a rural area, but my grandmother did, and I can remember AMC showing Betty Boop cartoons, and also Fleischer Superman cartoons and Laurel and Hardy as well. Even in recent years they had the Three Stooges, but that is gone except for occasional marathons.

I remember a few years ago that "Malcolm in the Middle" star Franki Muniz hosted a series with the "Our Gang" shorts on AMC.

What's sad is that AMC's re-branding has paid off; once they switched to showing newer and decidedly non-classic movies, using pan-'n'-scan and adding commercials, their ratings started climbing.

H.L. Mencken, sadly, was right. Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.
