I have been looking for the name of a cartoon ever since I first saw it on TV in around 1987 when I was six. All I remember is there was this sad-looking Dodo bird that slowly walked across the screen with morose dirgelike music. I think the Dodo may also have been hiccuping. I'm not even sure it was a Looney Tunes cartoon, it might have been a Silly Symphony or something else. But I remember watching it on my Saturday morning cartoons show waaaayyyy back in the day. Can anybody help me?

I suspect the character you're thinking of is the Minah Bird, not the Dodo Bird (who is a wild and crazy type of character in the WB shorts). The distinctive tune that accompanied his hop is Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave (http://www.spencerserolls.com/musicforweb/a32em.mid).
Our own Jack Tatay has a page about the Minah Bird and his colleague, Inki here (http://home.wi.rr.com/tatay/cartoons/inklet.html). The Inki cartoons were generally pulled from the WB shorts packages in the early 1990s for reasons easily guessed (though perhaps not justified, depending on whom you ask).
