Hello,
I am trying to view videos on Youtube.com but can't seem to do it. I click on a video, any video, and the page pops up but the video never starts. What am I missing? I guess I am just dense but I just can't figure this out. Can anyone here help?
Thanks,
Mark

I'm on dial up and it takes a long time to load so if you are in the same boat open it up,press the pause button so it dows not try to play and let the film fully load while you are doing something else and come back in ten to twenty minutes or so.

mwkurt,
You may also have an outdated video driver on your computer. Perhaps you can try going on the manufacturer's website and look for a new one to download.
I have a Dell and on their site you can find all sorts of drivers categorized by PC model.

I've been having problems with Youtube too. It always worked fine until this weekend, but now, when I try to watch a video, the box in which the video should play (the whole thing including the pause/play button) does not appear! I get everything else - the comments, links to other videos, google ads etc and I can even hear the video that's playing - I just can't see it! Anyone else had this problem?

Mac,
That is my problem. I don't get a box for the video to play in. Like you, I get the comments and everything else, just nothing that remotely looks like it is supposed to play a video.

This site (http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php) shows how to download Youtube videos. If you use Firefox as a browser (as I do) you can try the extension. I have found that the extension doesn't always work. If it doesn't you can just cut and paste the link.
Youtube videos are in flv (Flash) format. They require a Flash player to view them once you've downloaded them. Even so, this way you don't have to play the "pause and wait" game. And download-and-play seems faster to me.

I'm having a similar problem which just started this morning.
Youtube had been working great for me up until about 5 minutes ago when I went to watch a music clip and it just wouldn't load.
I'm guessing it's an issue with the server, because I haven't had any problems watching videos before.
