What is the title of that cartoon which features Daffy Duck and Henry Hawk I last saw it on ITV in England back in 1989 and I haven't seen it since.

That would be "'You Were Never Duckier", in which Daffy gets greedy and pretends to be a rooster in order to win $5,000 in a contest. Henry Hawk also dresses in the disguise of a rooster (as well as the watchdog) and inevitably wins the contest.

I always thought that final punchline seemed a little out of place. Why did Henery Hawk and his father dress up like that anyway? It was as if WB had no ideas for how Daffy could lose the contest and just threw that in at the last minute.

Artistic license. :D This film makes fun of Daffy's greed while looking at a father-son relationship. It provides an example of how classy Warner's could be -- Henery mallets his dad while trying to knock out Daffy, but George K. doesn't get angry. Instead, he offers a 'nice try' smile; from there, the two hawks find a way to get the better of Daffy.

Exactly.
In fact, a very well-thought and well-executed ending.
You think you've seen the last of the Hawks after Daffy escapes, and then -- surprise!... you're not gonna win this one, Duck.
Not even the 'fast fiver'...

Perhaps if Daffy wasn't the only duck. I wonder what would have happened if Daffy competed against Donald Duck.

We'd probably have something like the dueling piano scene in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"...perhaps the only official time these two wise-quackers appeared together. :daffy: :donald:

For an INTERESTING reteaming of Daffy Duck and Henery Hawk there's the wonderful 1951 Mel Blanc Capitol Record entitled simply "Henery Hawk"... With the story written by Warren Foster and Michael Maltese it is funny and unique!!! (picture re-borrowed from Jack's GAC Looney Tunes records page:p).
