Is the Walter Lantz Cartune: Springtime Serenade, A Lost Film?

:confused: I have noticed that all of the Walter Lantz 1934-1935 "Cartune Classics" cartoons have descripitions of them posted aroudn the internet. All of them except for "Springtime Serenade". Even the Walter Lantz encycolpedia doesn't have any info or images from the film. Is this film considered lost, or is it just extremely rare?:confused:

It appears the original 35mm nitrate elements may be at the UCLA archive, as well as a 16mm safety print. Someday I'd like to view it!

I haven't been in the loop recently, but last I checked virtually nobody had a copy of "Springtime Serenade" (not even Universal!) :eek:

The UCLA information that Del shared above is new to me. I'd like to look into that myself.

I kind of remember Ron Hall (of Festival Films in Minnesota) mentioning a Lantz short that was done as a theatrical commercial that had a similar title. I'll have to see if I can find that particular issue of MINDROT. If it was a commercial-type film (like BOY MEETS DOG was for Ipana) maybe that's why Universal doesn't have it.

I'll follow-up here if'n I can lay my hands on that article...

The short I mentioned above was titled "The Woodland Symphony." Here's the LOC copyright info, as quoted by Ron Hall in Animania #27 (Dec. 1, 1983):

Sorry for the mix-up on my end. Anybody know anything about this one?

I myself was always curious about those Coca-Cola Walter Lantz Films. Were they screen Ads or were they full 6-8 minute cartoons?
