Paramount is going to release the This is America, Charlie Brown miniseries in a Deluxe 2-Disc DVD set in June

Is Paramount finally learning their lesson on Peanuts? Could this (and the release of Snoopy Come Home and A Boy Named CB) be a foreshadowing of good Peanuts DVDs to come? Stay tuned.

Maybe the complete Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show will be next. That show had two seasons, but still enough for a four-disc collection.
Maybe Paramount will also release rare stuff like the Hallmark Hall of Fame production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (though I'm not sure if paramount has the video rights to that special).

Ironically, there's only been 18 episodes made of that show. 13 for the first and 5 more for the second. So if anything, it would probably fit on as a 2-3 disc set that way.

Oh, I hope so! I loved that series...it may not have been perfect, but it was a lot of fun! The show premiered on my 13th birthday, (Sept. 17th), and since then I have always had a fondness for what was one of the best birthday presents a Peanuts fan could have gotten (okay, I was a silly girl, and a bit of a Snoopy fanatic...)

I haven't been keeping track of the PEANUTS DVDs... besides Charlie Brown & Snoopy Show is there much left for Paramount to release to DVD? I imagine they haven't got to such specials as IT'S ARBOR DAY, CHARLIE BROWN and IT'S FLASHBEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN yet...

Most DVD releases have included at least one bonus special. I know that A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown, I Want a Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown, Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown, It's The Pied Piper, Charlie Brown, and A Charlei Brown Valentine (I think that's the title of the most recent Peanuts valentine special) have been released as their own DVDs, while It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown, This Is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers, It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales, and I think You're In Love, Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown's All-Stars, and It's Spring Training, Charlie brown have been released as special features.
I'm 99 percent sure that the Flashbeagle special hasn't been released. I'm not sure about the Arbor Day special or Why, Charlie Brown, Why?
I know that You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Snoopy: The Musical, Snoopy's Reunion, The Big Stuffed Dog, It's the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown, A Charlie Brown Celebration, You're in the Superbowl, Charlie Brown, He's Your Dog, Charlie brown (if paramount wanted to release specials with their upcoming peanuts movie releases, then I think this would be good as a feature on the Snoopy Come Home DVD), What Have We learned, Charlie Brown? (this would make a good bonus feature for a possible Bon Voyage Charlie Brown DVD), Race For Your Life, Charlie brown, and Bon Voyage, Charlie brown haven't been released on DVD yet.

As far as Paramount 'learning its lesson," I'm not certain that it is to be learned just through the release of PEANUTS on DVD. What about the vast library of classic cartoons such as the Fleischer, Famous, and Terrytoons they are already holding? These are subjects that are in constant discussion, proving that there is a vast audience for them. But Paramount yet has to learn of this too, I would imagine.

I was wondering myself what was meant by Paramount learning it's lesson. I guess you could say that this was the first multi-disc release of peanuts specials. In the first post it also mentioned A Boy Named Charlie brown and Snoopy Come Home as possible foreshadows of things to come, but as far as I know, neither of those DVDs have any features, though I think that they are going to have widescreen releases and the release of A Boy Named Charlie Brown will be the first-ever commercial release of the movie that is uncut.
Of course, almost all of the previous Peanuts DVDs have had bonus specials, and possibly other features.
Going slightly off-topic, I'd like to list some special features that I'd like to see on those two movie DVDs:
A Boy Named Charlie Brown
Audio commentary by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendleson
A Boy Named Charlie Brown (unbroadcast documentary from the early 1960s, which led to production of A Charlie Brown Christmas)
Original theatrical trailer
Snoopy Come Home
Audio commentary by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendleson
Original Trailer
He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown
Snoopy's Reunion

I'd like to see these extras as well, along with the Peanuts Ford commercials.

I remember the PEANUTS Ford Commercials that used to be run on the NBC TENNESSEE ERNIE FORD SHOW. These were produced at Playhouse Pictures, and Bill Melendez was an animator on some of them before starting his own studio in 1965.

FYI, the Region 4 release of "Snoopy Come Home" had no special features at all. Of course the case may be different in the US... but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I know, and so far no features have been announced for the american releases. I have a feeling that the This Is America, Charlie Brown set won't have any features, either (aside from the episodes).

I've noticed a store in Munich ("Müller") a number of Charlie Brown/Peanuts DVDs and now have seen a sexy box with "complete Charlie Brown". Anyone know about these - I have the feeling in some thread that someone stated that they are poorly done.

I have them, but I won't be set up to watch Region 2 DVDs for at least another week. But I understand that they are very well done, which is why I bought them. The region 1 versions are poorly done, with much DVNR (I have a few of these and have watched them).

Sounds like it'll only benefit those that might've wanted such a release to show at schools or such.

I bought a Black and White VHS copy of an Originally Color NBC Ford Show from December 22, 1960 from the old Video Yesteryear company. It was the Christmas episode with Kate Smith. It had the "Peanuts" Opening for Ford Motor Company..featuring Charlie Brown and Schroeder with Schroder playing the Ford Theme on his toy piano while Charlie Brown Intros.."Ladies and Gentlemen. The Ford Show starring Tennessee Erie Ford". There is also a short Dialogue afterward:
Charlie Brown: I think it is amazing how you play so beautifully on just a toy piano..
Schroeder:Especially when you consider that the black keys are just painted on.
I did not know Melendez animated on some of these commercials/intros
